"Do Black Foxes really bring misfortune?"
"What do you think, Princess?" Yun Qi studied her expression, a hint of apprehension in his eyes.
Sang Luo nodded. "They certainly do bring misfortune!"
Yun Qi's fingers clenched. But then he saw the young woman look up and gaze earnestly into his eyes, her expression full of pity. "Not misfortune for others, but for yourself. If you weren't a Black Fox, you wouldn't have gone through so much pointless suffering. You clearly deserved a better life, yet you were saddled with this absurd, baseless accusation!"
The young man found he couldn't quite meet her bright, star-like eyes. His Adam's apple bobbed. His fingers uncurled, and he lowered his head with a soft laugh. "Thank you for saying that, Princess. I've never heard anyone else say such things."
"It's a principle even I can understand. Why would your father, a Clan Leader, believe the rumors about the Evil Fox?"
