Chapter 244 - Chapter 244 - Excalibur

That night, time passed amid heated discussions among 'Fate/Zero' fans.

At exactly 8 PM, Bi Yuxin put down his phone and turned his attention to the television in the living room.

Episode 8 of 'Fate/Zero' began airing right on schedule.

From the very start of the episode, it was a chaotic battle between Servants.

Although all the Servants sought the Holy Grail, figures like Alexander, Artoria, and Lancer Diarmuid reacted instinctively to stop Gilles de Rais after he transformed into a monstrous creature and began slaughtering civilians in the city center.

The grotesque monster. The fallen civilians.

And high above, Gilgamesh sat calmly on his golden flying vessel, watching everything unfold alongside Tokiomi Tohsaka.

Tokiomi continued his submissive act, hoping Gilgamesh would take action to eliminate the monster and stop the disaster.

But Gilgamesh only looked disgusted.

This episode was a full-blown showcase of budget-heavy special effects.

But—

"Tokiomi really summoned himself a father, huh!"

Bi Yuxin burst out laughing.

Watching Tokiomi try to beg Gilgamesh for help, only to be scolded and told that the King wouldn't dirty his Ea on such filth—Bi Yuxin nearly lost it.

He disliked Gilgamesh, but Tokiomi's hypocritical nature annoyed him even more. Seeing him get shut down like that was one of the most satisfying moments of the episode.

At a critical moment, human fighter jets arrived.

And the pilots immediately spotted Gilgamesh's massive flying craft.

Then—

One of the most mysterious Servants in the series appeared.

The armored Berserker.

Using his ability, he assimilated a fighter jet, then took control of it and launched an attack against Gilgamesh.

Bi Yuxin instantly sat up straight.

"Holy crap… that's insane!"

The aerial battle between Berserker's jet and Gilgamesh's craft—

Spins, dives, sharp turns, high-speed chases—

A sequence of visually explosive scenes, clearly backed by a massive budget, completely erased all the frustration Bi Yuxin had built up over the past seven weeks.

Even if the pacing had been slow…

Even if every episode ended on a cliffhanger…

This alone made it worth it.

Meanwhile, as the battle raged in the sky, Tokiomi and Kariya Matou began their verbal confrontation.

"Tokiomi Tohsaka, I only have one question… why did you give your daughter, Sakura, to my father, Zouken Matou?"Kariya asked, his body trembling with weakness.

"Is that really what you should be worrying about right now?" Tokiomi replied, stunned.

"Answer me, Tokiomi!" Kariya shouted angrily.

Bi Yuxin looked confused.

Seriously though—

Kariya was being way too cliché.

The girl's own father didn't seem that concerned, yet this guy—basically a lovestruck fool—was acting like it was his own child.

Sure, his "white moonlight" was Tokiomi's wife…

But that didn't mean he had to extend that affection to her daughter like this.

Still, this scene added more background to the story.

In the Tohsaka family, both daughters had magical potential—but only one could inherit the Magic Crest.

So Tokiomi gave Sakura to the Matou family, hoping she could inherit their crest.

Of course, Tokiomi had no idea how horrifying the Matou crest worms were, nor the suffering Sakura endured. From his perspective as a father, he believed he had secured a bright future for both daughters.

But from Kariya's perspective—

Tokiomi was the man who destroyed the happiness of the woman he loved.

Their clashing beliefs created an irreconcilable divide.

The conflict deepened.

Meanwhile—

The aerial battle between Berserker and Gilgamesh continued.

Gilles' monstrous form still rampaged through the city.

Lancer and Saber fought side by side.

Fighter jets and flying crafts clashed above.

Even Alexander, despite summoning his army, found it difficult to quickly defeat such a massive opponent.

And at that crucial moment—

Kiritsugu Emiya found the key to breaking the deadlock.

The sword in Saber's hand was a powerful Anti-Fortress Noble Phantasm.

But her hand had been injured in her earlier battle with Diarmuid, preventing her from unleashing its full power.

To heal it—

Diarmuid would need to destroy the cursed spear that inflicted the wound.

But Saber believed that doing so would tarnish their honorable duel, so she never brought it up.

Yet—

For the greater good, Lancer Diarmuid chose to break his own cursed spear.

Bi Yuxin took a deep breath at that moment.

This—

This was what a true hero looked like.

Honor, judgment, and the ability to prioritize.

Their duel mattered—but how could it compare to stopping a monster slaughtering civilians?

"I leave the rest to you, King of Knights!" Diarmuid said with a smile.

"I accept, Lancer."

The moment the spear shattered, Saber's injury healed.

She raised her sword.

At that instant—

The background music changed.

On screen, Artoria stood—her fair, resolute face illuminated by gleaming armor, clad in blue knight attire, holding an invisible greatsword aloft.

Golden light began to gather.

Immense power condensed.

Even Gilgamesh and Berserker paused mid-battle, turning their gaze toward her.

Kiritsugu's voice guided from within the mist.

Alexander charged across the lake.

Light converged in Artoria's hands.

Bi Yuxin's heart pounded wildly.

Too cool.

So cool, it brought tears to his eyes.

"That radiant sword… carries the sorrowful yet noble dreams of all warriors who fell in battle—past, present, and future. She takes pride in that will and upholds that belief to the very end. Now… the King of Conquest sings the true name of the miracle she holds!"

Irisviel's voice echoed.

On screen, the girl bathed in golden light opened her eyes.

In her hands—

It was as if she held light itself.

In her gaze, there was only unwavering resolve.

Doubt, ridicule, denial—

None of it could shake her.

Neither Gilgamesh nor Alexander believed in her path. They saw her ideals as unrealistic, impossible.

But even so—

She would never abandon it.

Because that was who she was.

"Excalibur—!"

Artoria cried out.

Bi Yuxin was completely stunned.

Golden light tore through the darkness, erupting across the screen.

The budget burned.

And so did his blood.

For someone who had never even been in love—

At this moment, watching the King of Knights, his heart raced uncontrollably.

For the first time, he understood what it felt like to idolize someone.

As Gilles de Rais died, tears streamed down his face—he believed he had glimpsed Jeanne d'Arc's light.

And perished within it.

Alexander and Gilgamesh both looked at Artoria with solemn expressions.

The ending song began to play.

Only then did Bi Yuxin finally release the breath he had been holding.

He had expected the show to be good—

But he never imagined it would become this incredible by episode 8.

Zhuang Yuxin.

He silently repeated the name of the actress who played Artoria.
