Chapter 197 - Fifteen/Twenty Minutes

I step into the bathroom and close the door behind me, letting the silence settle properly before I do anything else.

The room is cleaner than most in the camp—too clean, almost. Everything here feels like it was designed for someone like me. Someone who doesn't share space, doesn't tolerate noise, and doesn't accept disorder. The tiles are light-colored, and the lighting is soft but sharp enough to show every detail. Even the mirror looks like it's been wiped down too many times to ever hold a smudge.

I don't think about it too long.

I turn the shower on.

The water hits the tiles first, then builds into a steady sound, filling the space in a way that almost drowns out everything else. Steam starts to rise slowly, softening the edges of the room.

I step in.
