Chapter 157: The Great War
Having accepted the system's option, King turned his gaze toward GOD. His aura became increasingly violent and unstable.
Vitality shot into the starry sky, swirling around him like a crimson nebula. Eager to claim his reward and driven by the lingering irritation of being suppressed for an hour, King launched another charge, heading straight for the deity.
Thousands of meters were crossed in a heartbeat. The thousand-meter Crimson Dragon roared as it lunged toward GOD's position.
Sensing the shift in King's momentum, GOD leaned forward. The void beneath His feet shattered under the pressure of chaotic energy as He, too, transformed into a streak of light and shot forward.
In an instant, the berserk Crimson Dragon collided head-on with the multi-colored light of the deity. A massive energy shockwave erupted, spiraling outward from the point of impact and sweeping through the sector.
The vacuum vibrated. The very fabric of space seemed unable to withstand such a horrific energy surge and began to crack in multiple layers.
Under the constant erosion of the chaotic light, the thousand-meter dragon began to develop dense fissures, appearing as if it would disintegrate at any moment.
But in the next second, the dragon began to shrink rapidly, as if a black hole had formed at its center, twisting and sucking the energy inward toward a single point.
The external form of the dragon dissipated, replaced by King himself, his body wreathed in a terrifyingly concentrated, burning Aura.
He didn't plan to use the dragon anymore. While the visual effects were flashy, that form was better suited as an AOE (Area of Effect) skill for clearing crowds.
Given King's current stats, concentrating all his "Infinite Great Power" into his own physical form was the most efficient way to fight.
GOD noticed King's intention. The starry nebula that served as His face flickered with a micro-tremor.
Trying to focus all power on a single point to break my defense...? As you wish!
GOD raised His head. The deep cosmos on His face shifted, morphing into a perfect replica of King's features. Simultaneously, a berserk and powerful Aura erupted from His body, forming a crimson pillar of light that pierced the cosmic void.
That's right—GOD had copied King's state. Currently, His attributes had reached the exact same level as King's; numerically, they were perfectly balanced.
King didn't pause for even a millisecond. Stepping off the cracked void, he brought down a fist condensed with absolute vitality.
GOD, now wearing King's face and driving an ocean of boundless vitality within His vessel, met him with a head-on punch!
BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!!
This corner of space was instantly transformed into a sea of crimson energy. The very vacuum shattered under the weight of the highly compressed vitality.
Without the resistance of air, two streaks of scarlet light shuttled and collided endlessly in the vast universe. Every clash sent a soundless explosion rippling through the stars.
GOD's fist smashed forward, carrying an attack comparable to a solar flare, landing squarely on King's face. The universe seemed to roar.
King remained unmoved. He retaliated with a punch of equal force, slamming it into GOD's head and sending Him tumbling backward uncontrollably.
He's getting stronger again...
GOD was shocked. He had clearly copied King's state perfectly, yet in the exchange just now, he could feel that King's raw numbers were slightly higher than His own.
Is it that 'Adaptation' ability...? What a disgusting skill...
As a high-dimensional being, the well-traveled GOD immediately realized the cause.
In his current state, his attack power was being gradually adapted to by King. Sooner or later, King would develop partial damage reduction or even total immunity to His current output.
Moreover, to facilitate this adaptation, King's body was evolving and strengthening itself constantly.
You have methods to grow stronger? Do you think I don't?!
GOD swept a hand across His face, erasing the previously copied features. He then copied the current, stronger version of King, further elevating His own aura.
Both sides were growing stronger in perfect sync.
King got stronger by adapting to GOD, and GOD got stronger by copying King. It was like two people pulling themselves up by their own bootstraps, spiraling toward a higher state of existence.
For a time, neither could gain the upper hand. They were both perfect "Stat Monsters." The moment one's numbers rose, the other's followed suit instantly.
King landed another punch on GOD's torso. The horrific impact sent GOD spinning through the void, unable to stop His momentum.
His body flew like a high-velocity projectile, smashing directly into a desolate planet nearby.
The planet was of a standard planetary scale, though its harsh environment meant it had yet to birth any life.
The streak of chaotic light and scarlet vitality slammed into the surface, leaving a crater several kilometers wide.
Amidst the massive dust cloud, GOD flew out of the crater. He looked at His black-and-gold armor, which now bore visible cracks, and clenched His fists.
This stowaway is beyond annoying! stowaways should just rot and die!
GOD realized the problem. While He could copy King's attributes to stay on par, there was a fundamental rule at play.
King had to grow stronger first before GOD could copy him. Before King reached that new peak, there was a window where He couldn't replicate the stats.
At their level, even a 0.01-second delay led to massive consequences.
For example, if King grew stronger for 0.1 seconds and GOD copied him immediately after, GOD would have to tank several high-power hits during that 0.1-second gap, suffering significant damage.
While GOD pondered, another crimson streak descended from the heavens. King chose to press his advantage.
GOD met him head-on. The two collided violently on the planet's surface. The crust was ripped up by the terrifying power, turning into a boundless tidal wave of shattered rock that expanded toward the horizon.
A full quarter of the planet's surface was annihilated in that single collision. The debris launched into the sky was eventually dragged back by gravity, and the planet's core began to vibrate violently, as if the world would break apart in the next second.
King and GOD became entangled again. Under their relentless assault on each other, the planetary surface was reduced to a fractured, unrecognizable mess.
The sky was choked with dust that refused to settle, and brilliant red magma began to erupt from the deep crust—a perfect portrait of the apocalypse.
