Chapter 32 - Chapter 32 – Hulk Unleashed, and Something Even Worse Descends

After the transformation, Peter truly lived up to the name Spider-Man, but not in any heroic sense anyone would recognize. Whatever restraint he once had was gone, burned away and replaced by something colder, sharper, and far more vicious. The bright, hopeful image of a neighborhood protector had collapsed completely, leaving behind something that hunted, tormented, and enjoyed every second of it.

Iron Man's mask was torn open with brutal force, the metal peeled back like it was nothing more than foil. Under the black sheen of the symbiote, Peter's hands twisted and reshaped into jagged claws, slick and predatory, before he drove them forward without hesitation. The sound that followed was wet and sharp, a tearing noise that made it clear just how little resistance Tony's exposed flesh offered.

Tony's face was instantly carved with deep, ragged gashes, blood streaking down in uneven lines. If Peter had wanted him dead, that single strike could have ended everything right there. Instead, he chose something worse, dragging the moment out, letting pain and humiliation sink in piece by piece as he cut rather than killed.

This slow, deliberate torment twisted something deep inside Tony, turning anger into something far more volatile. What should have been a clean victory had turned into a complete collapse, and he could feel it down to his bones. The creature standing over him wasn't supposed to be a threat, not someone who could pin him down and beat him like this.

He had miscalculated, and the price was unbearable.

Tony's eyes burned with fury as he raised his hand, activating the laser cannon embedded in his armor. Even with the risk of system overload and potential detonation, he made the decision instantly. If this was how it ended, he would go down fighting, no matter the cost.

The energy beam began to gather in his palm, humming with destructive force as it built toward release. But just as it reached critical charge, Peter moved faster, grabbing Tony's wrist and twisting it without hesitation. The direction of the cannon shifted violently, now aimed straight back at Tony's own face.

For a split second, everything froze.

Tony's pupils shrank, panic flooding in as he kicked against the ground, struggling with everything he had. There was no way he would accept dying by his own weapon. That kind of death wasn't just defeat—it was humiliation on a level that would never be forgotten.

He fought desperately, trying to break free, but Peter's grip was absolute, crushing and unyielding. Normally, Tony could have cut the energy flow, stopped the charge, and reset the system. But the earlier damage from the electrical surge had compromised critical functions, and even with Jarvis attempting emergency adjustments, the safeguards had failed.

The shutdown mechanism was gone.

Tony's eyes turned bloodshot, veins bulging as the reality of the situation closed in around him. His life hung by a thread, seconds away from ending in the worst possible way.

And then, without warning, a massive chunk of debris came crashing down from above.

Peter reacted instantly, leaping back to avoid the falling rock as it smashed into the ground between them. That brief interruption was all Tony needed. He twisted his arm upward, redirecting the cannon away from himself, and fired.

The blast roared into the sky, the recoil slamming back into him with brutal force. His body was driven into the ground, the impact knocking the air from his lungs as he coughed up blood, his vision swimming.

"I've never been this embarrassed before," he muttered hoarsely, turning his head toward the figure in the distance.

Spider-Man stood there, still and watching, and for the first time, Tony felt something he hadn't expected to feel again.

Fear.

The realization hit him harder than any blow. This wasn't just an enemy anymore—this was something else entirely, something he had underestimated in the worst possible way. His face flushed red, anger and shame mixing into something unbearable.

What the hell are you?

Peter didn't answer. Instead, he turned his gaze toward the distance, focusing on something beyond the battlefield. There, a middle-aged man stood, breathing heavily, his appearance completely unremarkable at first glance. A plaid shirt, black-rimmed glasses, the posture of someone ordinary.

Except for his arm.

It was an unnatural shade of dark green, almost black, pulsing with something barely contained.

"If you'd like," the man said quietly, adjusting his glasses with a calm that didn't match the situation, "you can call me Dr. Banner."

The change came instantly after.

His body expanded, muscles swelling beyond human limits as his frame grew larger and larger, tearing through the illusion of normalcy. Within seconds, the man was gone, replaced by a towering green giant that stood nearly three meters tall, radiating raw, overwhelming power.

"Leave my companions!!!"

The roar shook the air itself, a visible shockwave rippling outward and forcing Peter to take several steps back. The impact of that presence alone was enough to trigger every instinct he had, his spider-sense screaming warnings without pause.

This was different.

Dangerous on an entirely new level.

Peter's jaw tightened as he assessed the situation, the instinct to fight clashing violently with the instinct to survive. Whatever this thing was, going head-to-head with it would not end well.

"Maybe… this is where I call it," he muttered under his breath, his tone low and tense.

He shot a final glance toward Tony and Captain Steve, something unreadable flickering in his eyes, before firing off a web line and preparing to retreat.

But he didn't get the chance.

Captain Steve's voice cut through the chaos, loud and unrestrained, carrying an intensity that bordered on madness. The man who once stood as a symbol of freedom now looked like someone desperate to cling to a crumbling image.

"We cannot let Spider-Man leave here today!" he shouted, his voice raw. "If he walks away, the Avengers lose everything!"

The truth of it hung heavy in the air.

They had mobilized everything, thrown their full force at a single target, and still failed to contain him. Not only that, but an entire street had been reduced to ruins in the process, with Spider-Man standing at the center of it all, ready to walk away untouched.

If that became the narrative, their authority would collapse overnight.

And with it, the fragile order they were supposed to maintain.

Even in his transformed state, Banner understood that much. Whether it was his own mind or something deeper guiding him, the decision came instantly.

"HULK SMASH!!!"

With a thunderous roar, Hulk launched himself forward, leaping dozens of meters in a single bound. The ground cracked beneath his takeoff, debris scattering in every direction as he shot toward Peter with terrifying speed.

But when it came to aerial movement, Peter still held the advantage.

He twisted midair, feet snapping onto a glass surface as he shifted direction in a smooth, controlled motion. The massive hand that reached for him closed on empty space as he sidestepped the attack, already firing another web line to swing toward a nearby building.

He moved like something untouchable, weaving through the skyline with precision.

But Hulk didn't stop.

As a newly integrated member of the team, he needed results, something undeniable that proved his worth. Anything less would leave room for doubt, and that was something he refused to accept.

"HULK STRONGEST THERE IS!!!"

The green giant surged forward again, smashing through walls and windows as he pursued his target. Each leap left destruction in its wake, buildings cracking under the force, glass shattering outward in violent bursts.

Screams echoed through the streets below, civilians caught in the chaos of something far beyond their control.

"Someone is definitely going to file complaints about this…" Black Widow muttered, her expression tightening as she watched the destruction unfold.

"Director Nick will handle it," Hawkeye replied calmly, his eyes tracking Hulk's movements with a kind of admiration. "Look at that power. It's like watching a god of war in action."

"I've said it before," Captain Steve added, stepping forward despite the soot and damage covering him. His eyes were bright, almost fervent. "Dr. Banner is the strongest among us. When he moves, nothing evil can escape."

As he spoke, his gaze lifted toward the sky.

And for a moment, it seemed like he was right.

Peter's movements faltered, his body jerking slightly as Hulk finally closed the distance. A massive hand clamped down around him, halting his escape completely.

A sharp scream tore through the air.

Steve turned back toward his teammates, continuing to speak, unaware of the subtle shift in their expressions.

"This isn't just a victory for justice," he continued, his voice steady. "It's a victory for S.H.I.E.L.D.—"

"Captain… you might want to look behind you," Hawkeye interrupted, his tone suddenly strained.

"What?" Steve frowned, not yet understanding.

"Look! Now!" Black Widow shouted, her voice edged with alarm. "What the hell is that…?"

Up above, where the sky had been clear just moments ago, something had changed.

A deep purple light began to spread, staining the clouds with an unnatural glow. The atmosphere itself seemed to warp, the air growing heavy as if something immense was pressing down from above.

Then the clouds split apart.

And from within them, something enormous emerged.

A colossal hand, vast and otherworldly, pushed through the sky itself before slamming down, its grip tightening as it seized the Hulk mid-motion.
