"...You're talking nonsense again."
Rai's voice was barely a breath, fading into the sterile, heavy air of the back room before it could even hit the walls. But he didn't lift his gaze from the floor.
Suddenly, the space between them vanished. Zade shifted, a sudden blur of motion that caught Rai completely off guard. Before Rai could process the movement, Zade pulled him up by his waist, shifting his own weight to sit down first before pulling Rai straight back against him.
He forced Rai securely into his lap.
Without a single word, Zade brought his hand up, his long fingers pressing firmly but gently against the crown of Rai's head, guiding it down until it rested heavily against his shoulder.
"I shouldn't have left you alone," Zade muttered. His voice was rough, holding a low, erratic vibration that pulsed deep within his chest.
