"Good evening, we apologize for intruding," Raj said as he pushed open the door and spoke toward the hall.
"Ah, it's so dark. Hurry and turn on the lights," Misty said nervously as she followed behind Brock.
Girls were naturally afraid of such gloomy and frightening places.
"Alright, come out, Charmander," Ash said as he released Charmander to provide light.
"Why did you two come in? Didn't you say you wouldn't?" Raj asked as he looked at Misty, who still seemed nervous.
"Of course that was a joke. As partners, how could we leave you here alone?" Brock said as he patted Raj's shoulder.
"Partners, huh," Raj said quietly as he thought about those words.
The flame on Charmander's tail illuminated the entire room. A large hole in the floor became visible, and the fireplace nearby was already in ruins. Everything suggested that this place was abandoned and eerie.
"It's so scary here. Maybe we should come back during the daytime tomorrow," Misty said as she hugged her shoulders.
"I've never heard of Ghost-type Pokémon appearing during the day," Raj said with a smile.
"I found this candelabra. Look," Brock said as he ran over from the side.
"Alright, Charmander, light the candles."
"Watch your step. This building looks very old. Don't fall," Raj said as he carefully observed the surroundings.
Just as they were about to walk past the damaged hole in the floor, they suddenly heard a strange growling sound.
"What was that sound? It sounded so scary," Misty said as she covered her face.
Meanwhile, elsewhere inside the tower, a Haunter and a Gengar were watching a comedy program on a television.
The two Ghost-type Pokémon laughed loudly from time to time.
Soon another Gastly appeared, and the three Ghost-type Pokémon began playing around together in a lively and cheerful way.
Eventually, the three of them even posed together like a band.
Meanwhile, Raj and his companions continued searching for Ghost-type Pokémon. After passing through a long corridor, Ash pushed open another door.
"Hey Ghost-type Pokémon, if you're here, answer me," Brock said in a low voice.
"I'm here to catch you," Ash said confidently.
"That won't work. If you do that, they'll get annoyed and won't come out. Raj, don't you have a Haunter? Can you send it out to help?" Misty asked.
"I don't think that's a good idea. This is supposed to help Ash challenge the Gym. If I interfere, they might not take a liking to Ash, and that could affect his challenge," Raj said as he frowned slightly.
"Raj is right, Misty. We shouldn't rush things," Brock said in agreement.
Suddenly, the lights inside the hall turned on.
A dining hall appeared in front of them with a very long table, chairs neatly arranged on both sides, complete tableware already prepared, and a magnificent chandelier hanging overhead.
"This is..."
"It's incredible. This place looks like a luxurious five-star hotel," Raj said in surprise.
"What kind of party is this? Or is it a wedding?" Misty asked curiously.
Ash noticed a rope with a note attached and said, "Why is there a rope here? It says we should pull it."
"Then let's try it," Raj said as he pulled the rope despite Misty trying to stop him.
Suddenly, the ball attached to the rope burst open and fireworks scattered into the air. A hanging sign above them displayed the word Welcome.
"Is this welcoming us?" Misty asked as she looked at the message.
"But who is welcoming us?" Brock asked in confusion.
"Could it be Ghost-type Pokémon?" Raj asked as he stroked his chin thoughtfully.
"I'm getting goosebumps," Ash said slowly.
Suddenly, all the tableware on the table began floating into the air. Even the tables and chairs lifted off the ground and started swirling around the hall.
Raj and the others immediately ran out of the tower.
As soon as they left, the entire hall became quiet again. The tableware, tables, and chairs returned to their original positions.
Then laughter echoed from inside the tower as Gengar and the other Ghost-type Pokémon appeared at the doorway and laughed in the direction Raj and the others had run.
Meanwhile, Ash and the others had already run down to the base of the tower.
"It's so scary. I've decided I'm not going back into that tower," Misty said as she crouched down with tears in her eyes.
"Me neither," Brock said while catching his breath.
"What are you two talking about? If we don't go back into the tower, there's no way to catch a Ghost-type Pokémon, right Pikachu, Charmander?" Ash said as he looked at them.
Pikachu covered his eyes and shook his head. Charmander suddenly used Flamethrower and accidentally burned Ash and Brock. Only Raj avoided it because he had already stepped aside.
"If things continue like this, there's no way to defeat Sabrina's Psychic-type Pokémon. Do you still want to lose to her again?" Raj said as he frowned at Pikachu and the others.
After Raj spoke, Pikachu and the others lowered their heads in embarrassment.
"Raj is right. Only by overcoming this fear can you strengthen your willpower," Ash said as he crouched down beside them.
"Actually, it's not that scary inside. I think what we just saw was probably caused by Ghost-type Pokémon," Raj said with a smile.
"Alright then, Raj, come with me inside again. I'm definitely going to catch a Ghost-type Pokémon this time," Ash said as he clenched his fist.
"Okay. Brock, Misty, you two wait outside," Raj said as he looked at them.
As expected, the two of them nodded repeatedly without hesitation.
Raj and Ash returned to the hole they had seen earlier.
"It should be here. Let's try it," Ash said as he looked down.
"Pikachu, use Thunder Shock. Charmander, use Flamethrower."
"Beedrill, help too. Use Pin Missile," Raj said after thinking for a moment. His stronger Pokémon were not suitable here, so Beedrill was the better choice.
They saw a ball of fire burning below, and Ash immediately threw a Poké Ball toward it.
The Poké Ball struck Jessie directly in the face.
"Darn it, that hurts so much. It's those two smug brats again. They're infuriating me. I'll never let you go. I'll make you taste my power," Jessie shouted angrily.
"Jessie's fighting spirit is burning," James said blankly.
"She's really burning," Meowth added.
"Huh?" Jessie looked up and suddenly noticed flames burning on her hair. A moment later, her entire hairstyle caught fire.
"Ah it's so hot. My hair," Jessie shouted as she spun in place.
To Raj and Ash, the scene below looked like a constantly moving fireball.
"My hair, my beautiful hair," Jessie said as she looked at her ruined hairstyle before collapsing to the ground.
