The Punisher loosened his grip on Daredevil, turning to face Captain America — his eyes filled with disbelief.
"Captain… did you really shoot someone today?"
For decades, the U.S. government had portrayed Steve Rogers as a flawless symbol of justice — selfless, brave, noble, and morally upright. He was the embodiment of American ideals: a righteous warrior and a hero without blemish.
That's why the Punisher found it strange — though not unacceptable — to see Captain America kill.
He wasn't against killing. In fact, he believed that killing those irredeemable criminals and sending them to meet their Maker was the purest form of justice.
In his eyes, fighting violence with violence was true fairness.
"I've killed plenty of people," Steve said calmly. "Frank, I've read your files. I'm not interested in preaching about morality anymore. There's an old saying from the East: 'Revenge for revenge, kindness for kindness.'
If you believe something is right — stand by it."
He walked over and patted the Punisher's arm, his gesture steady and sincere.
That single moment made everyone in the room reevaluate Captain America. The image they had known — the perfect soldier, the government's poster boy — didn't match the man before them.
Yet, strangely, Steve's honesty didn't make him seem hypocritical or cruel. Instead, he came across as grounded — real.
"Thank you, Captain." The Punisher saluted him respectfully.
As a former Marine, Navy SEAL, and CIA operative, Frank Castle was no stranger to killing. He had been trained to end lives quickly and efficiently.
But what drove him to become the Punisher wasn't war — it was betrayal. His family had been massacred by gangsters, and when he sought justice, the law turned its back on him. The corruption reached deep — through politicians, corporations, and even the military.
Frank once believed in American justice. Now he only believed in the barrel of a gun.
If he hadn't escaped prison, he would've rotted there, forgotten. Only after losing everything did he truly understand — strength is the only truth.
Daredevil stood in silence. His entire philosophy — his no-kill code, his faith in the law — clashed with what he was hearing.
"Captain," Matt finally spoke. "Do you think it's right… to act above the law?"
Steve took the glass of water Frank handed him, then gave a faint smile.
"I used to think like you, Matt," he began. "I wanted to wipe out violence and bring peace. I believed that if I worked hard enough, people could live safely and happily."
He paused, then shook his head.
"But when I really tried to make that world… I realized there's always an invisible hand pulling the strings. Ask yourself — why do people become criminals?
Not every criminal is born evil. Some are victims — people driven by despair, poverty, or betrayal. I've seen it firsthand. People crushed by the system, families torn apart, good men and women jumping to their deaths because they had nowhere left to go.
So tell me, Matt — whose fault is that?"
His words hung heavy in the air.
Steve wasn't trying to recruit Daredevil to his side — he respected men like him. The world still needed good people, even if it meant they'd always be standing in the line of fire.
Karen Page, who had been watching quietly, felt her heart stir. Her admiration for Steve deepened — this wasn't blind hero worship anymore. It was curiosity… and something more dangerous.
Curiosity was the first step toward obsession.
"Is it the corporations?" Daredevil asked softly.
Steve nodded. "Yes. The powerful always pull the strings. Look at Frank's case — his family's murder wasn't random. It involved politicians, crime lords, and billionaires. People like Deka and the Rockefeller family.
The same kind of people who tried to destroy me. I clashed with Deka during a classified mission. He framed me, slandered me, and now he's sending assassins after me."
Steve looked Matt in the eyes. "That's why I came here. I want your help with this lawsuit, Matt. I don't have the time or patience for bureaucracy.
Will you stand with me — against the tycoons, for the people who deserve a fair life and a little dignity?"
His tone was calm but resolute — the kind of sincerity that made people want to believe.
Karen's heart fluttered. His courage, his conviction, his sheer presence — it was overwhelming.
The Punisher didn't hesitate. "Captain, you have my word. I'll help you."
"I'll handle the legal side," said Matt firmly.
"I'll help too," Karen added, her voice soft but determined.
Steve smiled warmly. "Thank you. All of you."
He quickly divided their roles: Daredevil would handle the legal proceedings and public hearings; the Punisher would track down the assassins; Karen would assist with evidence and coordination.
Steve would provide them with S.H.I.E.L.D. credentials for official cover. Together, they could operate freely — both in court and on the streets.
Meanwhile, across the city—
"Failed?! You call yourself the number one assassin?" Deka's furious voice roared through the nightclub's private suite.
Bullseye's failed assassination attempt had enraged him beyond control. The Rockefeller family's golden son had just been humiliated.
He slammed his glass onto the table, sending shards flying.
A woman beside him flinched and fled.
On the phone, Wilson Fisk (Kingpin) grimaced. "Bullseye organized the hit. I only provided manpower — and lost dozens of men because of it."
"I don't care!" Deka shouted. "If you don't kill Steve Rogers soon, you can rot in prison!"
The call ended abruptly.
Kingpin stared at the phone, his massive frame trembling with suppressed rage.
If he didn't need the Rockefeller family's influence, he would've crushed Deka's smug face long ago.
But for now, the game had only just begun.
