This was considered the first public superhero battle video, and the excitement it created made people's blood boil.
The newly launched Bugle Channel had never been very popular — its viewership barely reached a few dozen people.
But the moment Captain America's battle footage aired, the number of viewers skyrocketed from dozens to over 100,000, and it was still climbing.
By the end, it was estimated to surpass 300,000 viewers.
As long as the channel continued to release good content and maintained its audience, it would soon become a real television network — not one of those money-losing stations no one watched.
"Hey, man, what are you doing? Turn on the news! It's on the Bugle Channel — your idol's on TV!"
"Wow, when can I be Captain America's girlfriend?"
"That's hilarious! Don't think you're special just because you're a woman. Who says his girlfriend has to be female?"
"Uh, bro, not really, not really... you're not Ah Wei, are you?"
In the basement lab of his beachside villa, Tony Stark, who had just finished his latest experiment, saw the news and raised an eyebrow.
"Okay, okay, okay… you old popsicle," Tony muttered. "You didn't even call me for something this attention-grabbing?
You're not invited to tonight's bikini party with the Playboy cover girl!"
In a small hotel, Dr. Bruce Banner watched the same report. Seeing Steve Rogers' dazzling heroism and soaring popularity, envy flickered in his eyes.
At the S.H.I.E.L.D. dormitory, Blade, the newest member of the special forces, stared at the Captain on TV and muttered with resentment,
"You said we were brothers, but you're out there showing off without me?"
Envy. Jealousy. Frustration.
Where there are admirers, there will also be haters.
In a luxurious Rockefeller family villa, Deka, recently discharged from the hospital, saw Steve's triumphant image on TV — and rage exploded within him.
Veins bulged on his forehead, his face twisted in fury.
"Damn it! Damn it! You bastard! If it weren't for you, how could I have ended up like this?!"
His disgrace had become a family stain that could never be washed away.
No matter how pampered he once was, being kidnapped and forced to drink filthy water and eat dog food was a humiliation the Rockefeller name could never forget.
Worse, the kidnappers had released the video publicly — infuriating the family. The Rockefellers were humiliated and furious, immediately issuing a death order to wipe out every last one of the robbers.
Sharon Carter and Alexander Pierce took advantage of the chaos to seize several key assets, even securing two Senate seats through political maneuvering.
With government officials on their side, handling certain "business matters" became much easier — and it protected their industries from issues like taxation, public safety, or regulatory audits.
"Get the car ready. I need to go out and blow off some steam!" Deka barked.
"Master, the family head said you need to rest!" the butler reminded him gently.
SLAP!
Deka's face twisted with rage as he struck the man across the face.
"How dare you! You're just a servant — a dog in my pen — and you dare tell me what to do? Get the car ready!"
Osborn Manor
Norman Osborn had just returned home. After the last disastrous board meeting where several directors were literally blown to pieces, chaos still reigned at Oscorp.
To make matters worse, the military funding promised for the human enhancement serum had been delayed, leaving the company's finances in a dire state.
"Money! Money! Damn it — why am I always short on money?!"
"Mr. Green Goblin, are you interested in doing something big?"
A deep voice echoed through the room, startling Norman. The darker side of the Green Goblin instantly surfaced.
"Who are you?"
He turned toward the intruder — a tall, muscular man in a clown mask, lounging on his sofa, casually drinking a bottle of wine worth half a million dollars.
It was Joseph, the former enhanced soldier — better known as the Winter Soldier who once defeated Bucky Barnes.
"Let me introduce myself," Joseph said calmly. "My name is General Corvus Glaive, and my master, Thanos, seeks to form an Alliance of Super Villains.
Who says criminals can't unite, grow stronger, and achieve glory? The power of one man is limited — but together, we're unstoppable."
(Thanos: Who's putting words in my mouth again?)
The Green Goblin's lips curled into a menacing grin, and without warning, he lunged forward.
BANG!
Their fists collided with a thunderous crack. The marble floor shattered beneath them, and the expensive leather sofa was blown apart.
After the brief clash, Norman rubbed his sore fist and didn't strike again — he'd just wanted to test the intruder's strength.
"You're not bad," he said with a smirk. "What exactly are you planning?"
Joseph had already assessed the Goblin's combat ability — strong, but still inferior to him.
"I heard you're short on cash," Joseph replied. "Our plan is simple — we're going to make money."
"Rob a bank?" Norman frowned. "If it were that easy, I'd have done it myself by now."
He wasn't wrong. Robbery wasn't hard — the hard part was transporting the money.
A billion dollars in cash would need a convoy of armored trucks — it would be suicide.
That was why he'd once tried to recruit Spider-Man, but the young hero's moral compass made him impossible to sway. Even an "evil Spider-Man" would probably just ask for a formal job and benefits — not join a crime spree.
"No, no, no," Joseph chuckled. "You're thinking too small. That's a strategy from ten years ago."
He looked almost reverent as he spoke, clearly admiring his unseen "boss."
"We plan to kidnap direct descendants of elite families — the chaebols. You heard about the Rockefeller case, right? They paid a billion dollars in ransom."
The Green Goblin's eyes widened. "You're saying... that was you?"
"Exactly. This time, we're going bigger — we'll target both the Rockefeller and Morgan families. The ransom: three billion dollars. Interested?"
Three billion dollars — with no investment required.
"How do we split it?" Norman asked, intrigued.
"Fifty-fifty," Joseph said smoothly. "We'll handle the ransom using custom bombs and launder the money electronically. The process will take about two weeks."
He recited the plan from a script — one carefully written by Sharon Carter herself.
As for Sharon?
At that very moment, she was wearing a sailor outfit, crystal heels, and pigtails, humming softly while Steve Rogers playfully "disciplined" her with his whip.
"Is this reliable?" the Green Goblin asked cautiously.
"Of course," Joseph said with confidence. "Without real skill, would we dare attempt something this big?"
Joseph didn't need to overthink. His job was simple — follow orders.
Cows and horses only need to work. The Captain? He does the thinking.
"Alright," Norman said with a grin. "This one's on me!"
"Pleasure working with you."
"Cheers!"
Real men drank straight from the bottle — cups were for women.
The Green Goblin and Joseph clinked their bottles together, grinning like devils.
No more words were needed — their partnership was sealed.
