POV: Seraphina
The counter-working took three days to find.
Ashina spent the first day reaching into the inheritance with the deliberate focus they had been practicing, searching for the specific knowledge Seraphina had described. She found fragments on the first day, partial understandings that pointed toward the right direction without arriving there. On the second day she found the theoretical framework, the principles underlying the working, which Mira had understood with the comprehensive clarity of someone who had spent a century thinking about how pack bonds could be damaged and how damage could be repaired.
On the third day she found the working itself.
She came to Seraphina's room that evening with the slightly unfocused quality she always had after a long session of deliberate access, and sat in the chair by the window and was quiet for a moment before speaking.
