The people he left alive were old acquaintances. Most of them were left alone on a whim. But the people of the Rein Family were left alive for a specific reason. That reason isn't to eat Golden Sun, though. He is not ready to try that again.
As for the sect grounds, he felt that alone too because he didn't want to challenge the sect directly. But he is not sure if this will be enough to keep the sect from hunting him for taking over a million lives.
When he thought about what could happen, he said inwardly, 'As long as a Dao Lord doesn't come, I should be fine. If a Dao Lord does come, then I will have to find another way. Anyway, I won't join the sect again.'
