Tepid Scholar tried to stop laughing, but it was a bit difficult to do because this whole situation was too funny to him. Perhaps the funniest part was that he didn't really know what was happening and couldn't, with any amount of certainty, determine the right decision.
Fortunately, after a few milliseconds of laughter, he was able to regain his composure somewhat. Then he spent another few more milliseconds thinking about what to do.
