Time and time again, Van had to witness Ray genuinely lose himself to a primal fury.
And every single time, it always led back to him.
Being scrawny and academically inclined, Van had been the perfect target for bullies back when they were small children.
Each time, Ray had stood up to defend his friend without hesitation.
But whenever those bullies crossed a line—even by drawing a thin scratch of blood on him—Ray would lose it.
He became legendary for his terrifying rage then.
At five or six years old, he was incredibly dangerous, not necessarily because he was strong, but because he was entirely unpredictable and wouldn't hesitate to smash a piece of wood into someone's face.
It was only as they grew into teenagers that he had become calmer, more controlled.
Now, however, remnants of the past Ray were beginning to surface again.
