My eyes open to the live image of a black wolf large enough to be twice my size. I move back a few steps. Its red eyes glow as it prowls closer, tilting its head as if to examine me.
I continue stepping back. What's going on? Where am I? Everything looks too clear to not be real!
This wolf. It doesn't feel like it's threatening-
It shows it's teeth along with an aggressive growl, all aimed at me.
The suddenness of it makes me fall to the ground.
I push myself back with my arms and legs, my heart threatens to beat out of my chest. That's when I notice it.
A faint ghoulish glow coming from my gut.
It's the bead!-
I'm plunged into darkness again.
"Yori!" Hewlett screams.
My arms and legs twitch as I slowly get sense of my body. I can hear Hewlett's voice and a pressure on my chest growing tighter. "Let, go of me!" I roar. Light from the bulbs stings my eyes as they open. I wake up to Champo pinning me to the floor with his sand. Where's Hewlett? I turn my head to see him behind Brother Sabantu. Looks like he isn't allowed to interfere-
Champo amps up the pressure, "Looks like you're late to the party, Lycan boy." I groan trying to make sense of how I got on the floor. I try to look back at Champo but notice my shoulder. I've turned back to my human self.
"What happened?" I ask almost out of breath.
"Ha! You really did lose it then. I'll make you pay you dog ass!-"Aurrghh!" Champo spits out.
The sand around me loosens-
"You stupid idiot. Who told you to beat this small hyena like that!?" Brother Sabantu cursedly questions after smacking Champo on his nape.
How'd he move that fast. I mean look at him. I can hear Hewlett's heart beat slow down as he runs towards me when I focus but I didn't hear Brother Sabantu at all. Not even the floor creak!
"Are you okay Yori?" Hewlett asks. I really didn't mean to worry you.
"Of course he is. If Father didn't stop me I would've...I...would have continued training him." Champo answers. Why do the people around here call Brother Sabantu father? I should ask Hewlett later. My body feels like it's filled with rocks.
"You two clean up upstairs and think about whether you should return to Omach or get strong enough to train under me and finish what you came here to do," Brother Sabantu says.
"Thank you for your wisdom! Brother Sabantu," Hewlett announces in a bow. He gives me a robe from his Ichikota. "Take this." Come on Hewlett I already owe you for the last robe I tore! I don't have the kind of money to replace both of them!
"Champo!"
"Yes Father," Champo answers.
"You'll be cleaning up this place before we open. Yes. You dust breathing monkey," Brother Sabantu adds.
I grab the robe and put it around me and Hewlett and I head upstairs. "Thanks for saving me," I say to Hewlett in our room.
"It is nothing." I'm glad he isn't demanding for money to buy his robes back. Though this robe is really short. "But if there was something I would want to know is what happened back there? You have never done that and I saw you transform for the first time. I have even gone as far as reading lycanthropy literature but nothing has shown up describing what just happened."
"I don't know...okay Hewlett. When I passed out I saw a wolf-
"A wolf?"
"Yeah. Twice as tall as me with red eyes just like Benson."
"Then that was what took over your body. You lost control and fought Champo again."
"I nearly beat him didn't I?...I mean no, yes but also no. The wolf wasn't trying to hurt me. I could tell how strong it was but it wasn't!" Anything about the bead isn't my secret to tell. I still hope he believes me.
"That leaves me with more questions than answers Yori," Hewlett says. He gets up from his bed and starts pacing. "I think you should avoid using your lycan form until we know what is going on."
"I can't do that! Beating whoever's after me is something only my lycan form can do. I can train as hard or even twice as much as you in this form, but it wouldn't be enough to stop the kind of people that witch's sent after me!" If I can control whatever is going on inside of me, especially with Master's bead then that means you'll be safer when they find me.
Hewlett bites his lip and says, "You ca-
"I said, go up stairs and clean up! And not go up stairs and scream my roof off! You foolish fools." Is he done? "Hewlett!?" I figured.
"Sir?"
"You'll be training with Champo after the bar closes-
"What!" Champo complains. I hear a smacking sound right after. I thought we were told to think about whether we'll stay and train or go home? I seriously don't know what Brother Sabantu thinks. Anyways, Hewlett will be fighting Champo. Frankly, I hope he kicks his ass.
