Time had passed, but Karen never stepped out of her room.
No matter how many times Mathieu went upstairs to knock on her door or left food by her bedside, she stayed exactly where she was. Curled into herself, silent, unmoving, refusing to answer. Even when night faded into morning and the hours of work arrived, nothing changed. The plates he left remained untouched, the door remained closed, and whatever storm had taken hold of her showed no sign of easing.

Drogo walked in with his usual calm expression. Nothing about him suggested anything was out of place as he greeted his secretary, Mary with a small nod before heading toward his office.
Mary looked up from her desk, adjusting her glasses slightly as her lips curled. "It seems that assistant of yours has grown horns. She's coming late."
Drogo paused mid-step and turned his head slightly. "Karen's not here yet?"
