Chapter 92 - Chapter 89: Using His Younger Brother as Bait, Marriage Alliance

Unable to find the Blackfish, Daeron went to find the next one.

"Wait."

Jaime called out to him.

Daeron didn't have much affection for him and said flatly, "Is there something?"

"I want to ask, how did you learn the way you use Life Force?"

Jaime found it a bit difficult to speak.

Who would tell an outsider such a secret thing?

Daeron and Barristan exchanged a glance.

The latter stepped forward and advised, "Kid, your talent is good, but you still lack experience. Don't aim too high."

Jaime was only 15 years old; mastering Life Force at such a young age could be said to be a genius in ten thousand.

But he was still not satisfied.

Jaime hurriedly asked, "If I want to practice with you, what price must I pay?"

Besides his sister Cersei, his greatest ambition was to catch up with Barristan "the Bold" and Ser Arthur Dayne, the sword of the morning.

Especially Arthur Dayne, who was simply an idol among idols.

He had been present during the hunt for the Brotherhood Without Banners.

He had seen with his own eyes how Ser Arthur used that greatsword "Dawn" to easily cut down the leader of the Brotherhood Without Banners, and forced the Smiling Knight to jump into the sea to escape.

Barristan sighed and said, "Lord Tywin would not agree."

From the moment Life Frequency appeared, it was destined to be for the exclusive use of the royal family.

Without becoming a Kingsguard, no one was qualified to learn it.

Jaime was immediately disheartened.

"Let's go."

Daeron looked at him a few more times but said nothing.

In the original work, Jaime was persuaded in bed by Cersei to agree to become a Kingsguard.

The current Cersei still had a target to pursue and would not break her virginity before marriage, so there was no such thing as being persuaded in bed.

If Jaime's head was on straight, he wouldn't become a Kingsguard.

——

Not long after.

Daeron found Albert Arryn, who was packing his belongings.

"Prince, why are you here?"

Elbert had always been steady and acted politely.

Daeron knew his boundaries and said, "Rhaegar presented the crown of love and beauty to Lady Lyanna, which seems to have caused trouble for Lord Robert. You are Lord Jon Arryn's heir, so I've come to test the waters."

"It is indeed very troubling."

Elbert sighed softly and said, "Who would have thought Prince Rhaegar would do such a thing? Robert was nearly exploding with rage."

The Alliance of the Four Regions had originally decided to support Rhaegar to replace the Mad King's terrible rule.

Unexpectedly, the plan would fall through in such an unforeseen way.

Daeron tested, "I hope the betrothal between Lord Robert and Lady Lyanna will not be affected."

"Of course."

Elbert smiled and said, "Robert and Eddard are as close as brothers. He has long been infatuated with Lyanna and will not break the engagement over this."

It was just a crown of love and beauty, not like he'd been cuckolded.

If anyone was to blame, it was Rhaegar; the lady could not be blamed.

Once he said this, Daeron understood.

Whether out of personal feelings or political marriage, the alliance between the wolf and the stag houses would not break.

Then he had to take a heavy hand with the fish and the falcon houses.

Daeron no longer hid it and said directly, "I believe you have all seen that I hatched three dragons and even rode one, becoming a Dragonrider who has long been vanished."

Elbert became serious.

Daeron continued, "Rhaegar has been a bit muddled lately. I need to make plans early, just in case."

"House Arryn has always been a loyal supporter of the royal family. Before the Dance of the Dragons, the Targaryen and Arryn families were even related by marriage."

"If one day a change occurs, I hope Lord Jon can distinguish right from wrong."

This string of words left Elbert at a loss.

He broke into a cold sweat and tried his best to deny it: "Prince, what are you saying?"

Explain, explain.

What did he mean by making plans early, just in case?

What did he mean by loyal supporters, and hoping his uncle could distinguish right from wrong?

Daeron didn't bother with nonsense and threw out the condition directly: "House Arryn supports me. When my two younger brothers grow up, one of them will marry a daughter of House Arryn."

Was this condition enough?

Elbert's heart rate suddenly accelerated.

A marriage alliance with the dragon family!

Since the Dance of the Dragons, House Arryn had faded from the dragon family's sight and had not entered into a marriage alliance again.

Before, it could be said the dragon family had no dragons.

Today, Daeron had re-hatched dragons and become a powerful Dragonrider.

He remembered his uncle telling him how the Targaryens were regarded before the Dance of the Dragons.

They were hailed as "the men closest to gods."

Because the Targaryens had dragons, standing above ordinary people.

Gulp—

Elbert swallowed hard and asked seriously, "When your younger brothers grow up, will they have dragons?"

The Targaryens now had three dragons.

Daeron said calmly, "If my dragon lays eggs, I will give each of them one Dragon Egg."

Dragons were the bottom line; they could not be given to anyone.

But Dragon Eggs could!

Without a supply of a large number of special fish, no dragon could catch up with Caraxes's growth speed.

He only needed ten years to compress a hundred years of time and cultivate Caraxes into a terrifying existence comparable to an adult giant dragon.

"Dragon Eggs—"

Elbert thought, Dragon Eggs would work too.

Negotiating was about giving each other prices.

Dragon Eggs could hatch dragons.

As long as the two little princes had Dragon Eggs, they would eventually become Dragonriders.

If a daughter of House Arryn married into the family, the children she bore would naturally become Dragonriders.

However—

Elbert showed hesitation and pleaded, "Prince, your proposal is very fair, but I cannot decide on my own. I must return and report to my uncle."

"No problem."

Daeron agreed immediately.

Elbert stopped packing and immediately went to find a pen and paper, borrowing a raven from House Whent.

"Prince, do you really want a marriage alliance with House Arryn?"

Barristan frowned.

Arranging betrothals for the two little princes was the King's prerogative; it was not Prince Daeron's place to decide.

Daeron shook his head, "Having Jey and the other engage in a marriage alliance is the current condition."

In a month, the conditions might change.

Once the War of the Usurper broke out, House Arryn wouldn't even have the qualification to negotiate conditions.

"Then what about Tully family?"

Barristan had a typical noble mindset, thinking that for Tully family, he would also propose a marriage alliance with the two little princes.

Daeron: "Don't bother."

The trout that sails with the wind is not worthy of the blood of the true dragon.

Once the war started, he would ride Caraxes to Riverrun for a tour, and Lord Hoster would likely surrender immediately.

The Game of Thrones is cruel.

If you don't take the initiative to sit at the table and play, you will be at the mercy of others.

Tully family had lost its right to play the cards.

.

Daeron didn't look for anyone else and prepared to return to work.

Oswell came to the door, hesitating.

"Is there something, Ser?"

Daeron looked him up and down.

Oswell said awkwardly, "My niece Clara admires you very much, Prince."

"And?"

Daeron wanted to hear the rest.

Oswell gritted his teeth: "So, I would like to ask you to go see her. She truly admires you, perhaps because of the dragons, or perhaps because of the tournament. In short, I hope you will show mercy and pity a little girl."

He had a strong sense of pride and resented Daeron for killing his friend Connington.

But his niece was the only girl in the family and was a poor thing.

As an uncle, he wanted to help her fulfill her wish before leaving home.

"A little girl?"

"Yes!"

"Fine, lead the way."

Daeron did not make things difficult for him.

He remembered that little girl in the wheelchair, with blonde hair and blue eyes, a bright smile, and wearing a purple-red crown.

Unfortunately, her uncle and brothers hadn't kept that crown.

On the way, Daeron asked, "Ser, did Rhaegar say anything?"

"No."

Having a favor to ask, Oswell's attitude was humble, and he answered honestly, "The Prince said nothing and left with Ser Arthur Dayne and Prince Lewyn."

"He only left me behind to guard Princess Elia."

Elia hadn't left yet.

Daeron had left early at the time and hadn't noticed Elia's reaction when she saw her husband give the crown to another woman; he thought she would have left first.

"Princess Elia's heart was broken."

Oswell sighed, "But she is a strong and good woman. She didn't cry or complain, but devoted herself to taking care of the little princess."

Unknowingly, they arrived at an attic with a wide view.

Knock, knock, knock!

Oswell knocked gently on the door, his voice soft: "Clara, I'm coming in."

Soon, a girl's clear voice came from inside the room.

"Please come in, Uncle."

Oswell opened the door and looked at Daeron imploringly.

Daeron nodded slightly and walked into the girl's bedroom, which was luxuriously yet elegantly decorated.

Opposite the door was a huge floor-to-ceiling window. The afternoon sun spilled into the room, carrying a faint scent of gardenias.

A thin little girl lay on the bed, her upper body leaning against the headboard, wearing a plain nightgown, her legs covered by a quilt.

Her skin was very white, the kind of pale from not going out in the sun for years.

She was very beautiful, with a delicate, youthful beauty.

At this moment, she was staring intently at him.

Daeron greeted her with a smile: "Hello."

"Hello, Prince."

Clara Whent was a bit nervous, her hands clutching the quilt.

One could tell she was a very innocent girl.

Daeron pulled out a Daffodil like a magic trick, placed it by her bedside, and said gently, "I heard from Ser Oswell that you wanted to see me. This is a meeting gift for you."

"Thank you."

Clara was overjoyed, holding the Daffodil in her hands, a hundred times happier than when she wore the crown of love and beauty.

Daeron sat at the bedside and asked, "Can you tell me why you wanted to see me?"

He didn't even know when he had captured the heart of a little girl.

Clara had not become morose because she couldn't walk; instead, she was very cheerful. Facing the question, she opened up.

According to her.

She first heard Daeron's name when the news of the newborn young dragons spread. Out of curiosity about the young dragons, she remembered him.

Gradually, it came to the King's Landing purge, catching criminals, and taking in orphans.

The little girl began to like him.

At the tourney, he appeared riding a dragon and won victory after victory, completely capturing the little girl's heart.

Clara's eyes sparkled, and she said happily, "You are a Dragonrider. You can ride a dragon and fly in the sky. Can you touch the blue sky and white clouds, and see the little birds?"

Daeron listened to her chatter with a smile.

It had been a long time since he had seen such a pure little girl.

Compared to Cersei, she was like a little angel.

When her mouth became dry from talking.

Daeron handed her a bottle of milk and asked, "What's wrong with your legs?"

Clara felt a small sense of loss: "When I was little, I was riding with my father and fell off."

The Lord of Haran really wasn't doing his job!

Daeron cursed inwardly and suggested, "When you get better, I'll take you for a flight on a dragon. How about that?"

"Really!?"

Clara was instantly delighted, grabbing Daeron's hands with both of hers.

"Of course."

Daeron encouraged, "I feel like it won't be long before you get better."

He remembered there was a Life Potion in Stardew Valley.

Unlocked at Farming Level 2, made from four types of mushrooms, it can heal injuries and provide energy.

He would go make a few Mushroom Stumps later, accumulate mushrooms, and try making it.

Although the effect of the Life Potion might not be better than gold star cheese.

But at least it was called Life Potion; it should be more specialized for healing.

"Mm, I will stand up as soon as possible."

Clara felt hopeful, looking forward to sitting on a dragon's back and flying in the sky soon.

After chatting for a while, Daeron took his leave.

Outside the door.

Oswell immediately came up: "How was it?"

"She is very strong. I promised to take her for a flight in the sky once she's better."

Daeron answered truthfully.

Oswell breathed a sigh of relief: "Clara injured her leg bones. My brother has looked for special crops for her to eat over the years, but with little effect."

Daeron was under no obligation to tell the truth and chose to leave.

Just a few steps away.

Oswell suddenly called out to him and said, "Prince, actually Clara—she's 11 years old."

Daeron almost tripped.

No, he had just turned 11 himself. How could she be so petite and delicate that she didn't look 11 at all?
