Chapter 287 - Chapter 287: Floating Island

The Ultra-Light-Weight Rock Technique carried Ronin and Ging upward through the rain.

When they looked down from high above, they could already see that the surrounding area had completely turned into a vast expanse of water.

Occasionally, the tops of some trees still poked out, but under the impact of the floodwaters, they looked incredibly unsteady, as if they might snap at any moment.

The rain was so heavy that the entire world seemed shrouded in mist. If he had the Byakugan, he might have been able to see farther, but the Sharingan's field of vision was restricted just like ordinary eyes.

Pulling his gaze back from below, Ronin and Ging looked together toward the higher clouds.

Soon, the two of them entered the cloud layer. They continued rising for a long time before finally breaking through it completely. Sunlight instantly shone down on them, and when they lowered their heads, they could still see the thick, dark clouds below.

Looking around, however, they discovered a large number of birds circling in the sky.

Farther away, they could even see a floating island. The dark clouds seemed to be spewing out from beneath that island, and even the birds high in the sky seemed to come from there as well.

Ronin and Ging exchanged a glance, both seeing shock in each other's eyes.

"Let's go," Ronin said, directly carrying Ging toward the island.

Floating islands had appeared in many movies, shows, and anime. Before coming to the Dark Continent, Ronin had also imagined that the Dark Continent might have such islands.

However, what he had imagined at the time was that if something like this really existed on the Dark Continent, it would probably be near the World Tree.

The branches of the World Tree would support islands high in the sky, making them look as if they were truly floating.

As for an island genuinely floating in the air, that still seemed a little too surreal.

But now, the Dark Continent was telling him through reality that islands could indeed float. All they needed was to continuously spray out massive amounts of rain clouds.

It felt as if those rain clouds were the "exhaust" discharged by the island to maintain its floating state.

However, before Ronin and Ging could get close to the island, the birds circling high above had already discovered them.

These majestic eagle-like creatures were several times larger than the largest eagles in the world, with wingspans exceeding ten meters. Like the island's most loyal guardians, they suddenly let out sharp cries in the sky.

Then, in flocks, they accelerated toward Ronin and Ging.

However, Ronin did not observe Ten or Ren on these giant eagles. Their bodies were only naturally releasing life energy outward.

Although that life energy was not far from forming Ten, it had not truly formed it in the end.

That meant the giant eagles' strength level was completely insignificant.

To deal with beings like this, Ronin chose to use Wind Release: Vacuum Serial Waves.

Dozens of blade-shaped wind blades were spat out from Ronin's mouth, covering the entire space ahead.

The birds rapidly approaching them entered the range of the wind blades before they could attack Ronin and Ging. Blood sprayed in an instant, and the giant eagles' bodies were torn apart by the wind blades.

For a moment, blood splattered high in the sky, and severed limbs flew everywhere.

But none of this seemed to affect Ronin and Ging at all. The two rapidly passed through the area swept by the wind blades and drew closer to the small island floating high in the sky, slowly moving forward.

Once they got closer, they could clearly see that there were buildings on the floating island.

However, those buildings were in a ruined state, and they were already covered in greenery.

Perhaps it was the bloody scent caused by the deaths of the giant eagles in the sky, perhaps it was the eagles' cries, or perhaps it was Ronin and Ging's continued approach, but more giant eagles began appearing on the island.

And Ronin sharply noticed that among the vine-covered buildings, something that made his hair stand on end gradually appeared.

Sunlight shone on their heads, and the reflected golden or silver light was dazzling.

"Gold and Silver Ingots!" Ronin blurted out their name.

The plant weapon Gold and Silver Ingots was a calamity on the same level as the gaseous life-form Ai, which should have existed in the south.

Normally speaking, however, this thing should exist in the ancient labyrinth city in the northern part of the Dark Continent.

It was also the guardian of the ancient labyrinth!

According to its danger rating, this thing could reach a terrifying B+ level. Its ferocity was B, its destructive power was A-1, while its reproductive power and numbers were slightly lower. The main reason was that it appeared more concentrated within the labyrinth city.

One had to know that the Chimera Ants' danger level was only B. Even if someone guessed that the Ant King's danger level was A, in Ronin's view, giving the Ant King alone a B+ would already be generous.

And that calculation would have to apply to a fully grown Ant King, or one who had absorbed the three Royal Guards.

In other words, the eagle-bodied monsters with spherical heads now appearing on the island were monsters comparable to the Ant King, or even surpassing him!

Ronin stopped moving forward.

Even Ging, who was being carried through the air, now had a solemn expression.

The appearance of Gold and Silver Ingots had completely exceeded their expectations. The two had even guessed that the gaseous life-form Ai might appear high in the sky, but they had never imagined they would encounter Gold and Silver Ingots here.

The giant eagle with a Gold and Silver Ingot head suddenly spread its wings.

In that instant, Ronin directly pulled a scroll from behind him and tore it open without the slightest hesitation.

A shadow clone appeared in midair. At the same time, a kunai flew from Ronin's hand, shooting straight toward the approaching Gold and Silver Ingot eagle.

Just as the kunai was about to hit the Gold and Silver Ingot's head, the shadow clone, which had started falling the moment it appeared, suddenly vanished.

The next second, at the position of the kunai, Ronin's shadow clone appeared.

At the same time, a Rasengan rapidly formed in the shadow clone's hand.

Boom!

The shadow clone instantly slammed the Rasengan onto the Gold and Silver Ingot's head.

After all, anyone could tell that the metallic-glowing sphere on the Gold and Silver Ingot eagle's head was the key.

But in the next second, something happened that shocked Ronin.

The Rasengan struck the sphere-like head, which looked as if it had been forged from mithril, but the expected destructive effect did not appear. Instead, the Rasengan rapidly shrank.

It felt as if the Rasengan was being absorbed by the opponent.

And Ronin's feeling was not wrong at all, because in the next second, something even more shocking appeared before Ronin and Ging.

As the Rasengan in the shadow clone's hand quickly disappeared, an identical Rasengan attack slowly appeared in front of the Gold and Silver Ingot eagle.

Boom!

The newly formed Rasengan gave almost no warning and left the shadow clone no room to dodge. It struck the shadow clone directly.

With a puff, the shadow clone was shattered by the Rasengan's attack.

All that remained in the air was the kunai that the shadow clone had released, now beginning to fall.
