The door slammed open so hard it rattled the entire residence.
"WHY ARE YOU LIKE THIS?!"
Lily's voice cracked as it echoed through the room, her red hair disheveled, her chest heaving as if she'd run all the way there. Exildra didn't flinch. She stood by the window, her golden hair catching the light, her expression calm, too calm.
"Welcome back," she said softly.
"Don't you dare greet me as if nothing happened!" Lily snapped, her tail bristling violently behind her.
Exildra turned fully now, facing her.
"What do you want, Lily?"
The silence that followed this question would make even Bahamut shiver.
"What do I want?" Lily laughed bitterly. "You really don't know?"
Exildra didn't answer.
"Say it," Lily demanded, her voice trembling. "Say that you don't know."
"I know," Exildra replied quietly.
That was all it took. Lily's eyes burned.
"Then WHY?!" she shouted, stepping forward aggressively. "Why do you get to have him?!"
