2 Years later

Jura Forest

Mika POV

Knight spider, a large monsters possessing crab and arachnid-like features. A monster often described as a "boss" and an apex predator in certain parts of Jura Forest.

'Also my prey for today.' I mused as I continued sprinting towards the Monster.

Seeing me headed towards it, something unmistakeable given I was surrounded by Blue-Water like particles, it immediately tried to stab with one of its spear-like legs.

Dodging its attack I immediately leaped forward into the air performing a front flip, releasing a singular vertical slash in a circular motion with my weapon.

[ Second Form- Water Wheel ]

My sword, coated in [ Mystic Water ], immediately effortlessly cleaved through multiple of its leg, rendering its tough exoskeleton moot.

Wasting no time the Knight Spider turned around and tried to strike me.

'But it's already too late.' A yellow colour bee shaped missile immediately pierced through its skull, ending its life.

The same missile immediately tackled me to the ground rubbing its head with mine.

"Alright, that's enough Beru." I carefully patted the oversized wasp careful not to touch his antenna, something he clearly didn't like.

Beru, the army wasp larvae that I had rescued and named one year ago as an equal.

Funny that people can name monsters as equal, a concept used by Majins to name their children.

A proof of how Rimuru named Veldora, Veldora Tempest.

'If not for his look I would say he is a puppy seeking affection.' I stood up and headed towards our now dead prey. I made sure to serve all of its legs from its body.

I headed towards the Village with the Knight Spiders main body strapped to my back while Beru, the army wasp, carried its legs that I had severed.

Even from the distance I could see the already improving town they had built.

Thanks to Gramps being a well known and quiet respected individual, I was able to recommend some ways to improve the life of the town.

Proper orphanage systems, taken care of by the widows and old women in the village. Compared to the past where orphans were just shoved into a hut, with those wanting to help helping the kids, it was already an improvement.

Or the foundation of a school he had managed to recommend to the village chief, where old and experienced merfolk would teach to the younger generations.

Certainly an improvement compared to past where only select few would even have anything that can be called "Education".

All under the pretext of more educated and well-taken care people, helping improve the future of the village.

As I drawed near the village, all the attention was drawn to me and Beru, who by now had a big following in the village himself.

""""Big Brother.""""

As soon as I entered the village several children ran towards me, swarming me, tackling me to the ground, causing the Dead monster to fall beside me.

"Tell us more stories."

"More stories."

""Stories.""

'What to do now?' I looked at the children that had surrounded me, wondering what my next actions should be.

The reason for me staying out of the village for long time overflowed into my head. I started regretting ever telling them all the stories I did.

Despite my contributions towards helping the lives of these children, I sucked at handling them.

"Alright that's enough out of you all."

A voice came, looking up I saw a tall man about a decade older than me, who in actuality was 110 years old, with blue skin and a head reminiscent to that of a shark .

The children surrounding me were immediately saddened, which was clearly evident by their expression.

"*Sigh*Don't worry, I will tell all the story you want tonight."

Those words seem to immediately cheer everyone up.

""Really."" ""Really.""

"Really, Now get off." I slowly pushed them aside as I got up. I looked towards Kis who seemed amused by the whole situation.

"What?"

"Nothing." I then pointed towards the Knight Spiders body. "I guess I can leave that up to you."

Kis gestured towards the other guards, who were observing us, to take the corpse away.

Seeing the situation Beru dropped the Knight Spiders leg and flew over to me claiming his spot, atop my head.

"It never ceases to amaze me, you know?" Kis looked at the Army Wasp comfortably nestled atop my head.

"Me too, always makes me wonder too." Kis chuckled at that. "By the way, where is gramps?"

"He's there training the new recruits." He pointed towards the other side of the village.

A sudden commotion caught both of our attention, looking back it seemed the patron of the orphanage was lecturing the children from before.

'One more good change..' I mused staring at the matron.

In the past orphans usually weren't cared for much, huddled around an abandoned cottage and living under the charity of those who would bother with them. Three out of every ten orphan dying before the age of maturity.

Something the Village Chief was more than change after hearing him out. A proper orphanage structure, taken care by the elders of the village.

"I guess. I will take my leave." I left heading towards the place Gramps was supposed to be training the new recruits.

Before I reached my destination, Beru decided to head wherever he wanted.

My musing immediately came to a halt, as I neared the training ground. The sight of Gramps shouting at the new recruits, certainly was not a enviable sight.

"A 100 more swings!!!" Gramps turned towards another recruit, glaring at him. "You there, Start from the beginning!!"

Gramps one come turned towards the trainee he was lecturing at first, who had slowed down seeing gramps attention was diverted.

"You didn't think I forgot about you, did you?" Gramps said causing the recruit to visibly flinch.

"And, what about you?" Gramps said not even turning towards me. "Here to train."

"No thanks.I am good." I shrugged, not wanting get involved. "Sooo, how far along are they?"

"How far along are they in Strength or style?" Gramps tilted his head quizzically.

"Both, if you will."

"In terms of strength I would say most of them are at, according to the ranking system used by humans, Intermediate rank." Gramps came beside me looking towards the recruits, who were focused on their training. "In terms of [ Water Breathing ], they only have the basic foundation down right now."

[ Water Breathing ] a style of Mystic Art I devised basing it on a manga, I had read. Something which took me a year to finalise, even then there are a lot of gaps in the style.

Like it's template, it heavily focused in breathing. Though unlike it predecessor, it focused on taking in the abutment magicule in the air to strengthen oneself and their [ Mystic Arts ].

Atleast that's how it should have worked, taking in the ambient magicule in the nature and circulating it through out the body to improve physical and maical aspect of the body.

And it did for almost all, but for something additional happened for some.

Some ended up attracting lesser water elemental, further enhancing [Water Breathing]. The phenomenon being accompanied by blue particles surrounding the user and their weapon.

Though in hindsight it should have been expected, given our nature of having been descended from Sirens.

Sometime after creating this style with the help of Gramps, both of us decided to teach it to the village guard or at least to those who could learn it.

"No need to look disappointed." Gramps turned towards me. "This is a whole new system you have created, it is bound to take time for people to learn it."

"No, it's not that." I shook my head at the notion.

"Then what is it?"

"I am just worried if this may come to bite us later down the line."

A sudden increase in power of one group in a place where nearly everyone sought dominance, is bound to cause trouble.

Races like Gozu and Mezu, among the strongest race in the forest were bound to take notice.

'Maybe even the reclusive elves.'

"I see." Gramps looked towards his sword tied to his waist, lost in his thoughts. "There is not much that can be done."

"All we can do is weather the storm headed for us."

Silence followed his words, both of us basking in its embrace.

"So when?"

"Tomorrow."

An: Do Drop some Stones and Reviews, gives the dopamine to keep on Going.

So basically the the Mc devised an effective way to use Water Breathing by applying his [ Mystic Art-Mystic Water ] into the sword style while modifying and adjusting certain parts of the said style.

Water Breathing, just seemed perfect for merfolks. Given they wouldn't be poisoned like humans and given their aquatic like water. And being descended from Seiren would make them attract lesser elemental, who exist through out in nature.
