Chapter 106 - Chapter 103 – Signal and Noise

The distribution problem had a shape.

Tal had put it on the wall three days after the extraction, in chalk, the way Suri put contingencies on walls, because some problems needed to be spatial before they could be solved. It was a network diagram: the files at the center, the distribution points radiating outward, and at each distribution point a notation in red indicating the Arcus monitoring coverage.

Most of the points were red.

Not all.

But most.

"The problem isn't the files," Tal said, standing in front of the wall with his arms crossed and the expression he wore when he was working through something he hadn't finished working through yet. "The files exist. The files are documented in three encrypted locations. The problem is getting them from those locations into the hands of enough people that the system can't contain the spread."

"Distribution points," Suri said.
