Chapter 77 - 077 Skynet is Having Such a Tough Time!

077 Skynet is Having Such a Tough Time!

The Terminator world was gripped by an apocalyptic countdown.

With 26 minutes and 28 seconds remaining before the nuclear attack on Los Angeles, Ayanami thoughtfully displayed the countdown on the projector; every second that ticked by was chilling.

Given the dire situation, the transfer of control over both the nuclear weapons system and the supercomputers was incredibly swift.

In less than a minute, Ayanami broadcast a notification:

"Mr. Foster, I have detected control of the nuclear weapons system and am attempting to stop the tactical nuclear weapons that have not yet been launched." Ayanami responded.

Marcus nodded. "Try to stop them!"

"Acknowledged," Ayanami replied calmly.

Elliott looked at Marcus nervously, suppressing his anxiety as he asked, "Mr. Foster, can we stop these nuclear missiles?"

Marcus retorted directly, "How should I know?"

Marcus had every reason to be angry!

After all, Marcus had meticulously planned his involvement in the Terminator world; he was even preparing to establish a technology base there. This catastrophic turn of events meant all of his plans had fallen through. How could he not be angry?

Ayanami interjected through the broadcast system, "Mr. Foster, I have acquired the computing power of seventeen supercomputers and am currently breaking through Skynet's firewall."

"Speed it up!" Marcus ordered anxiously.

"I'm gaining control of more supercomputers, but Skynet is also competing for control. Please be patient..." Ayanami responded.

Seconds ticked by. DOJ Assistant Director Dante seemed to have lost control. He glared at Elliott and cursed, "Damn it, are you regretting it now?"

Trevor sighed. "We in the FBI warned you long ago that if you discovered a Terminator, you must notify us. And what happened?"

Elliott remained silent. What could he do?

Nuclear bombs were flying everywhere; what could he do? He was desperate too!

"Alright, stop arguing!" Marcus snapped. "You should all be praying now. If Ayanami fails, you'll all be dead!"

Everyone fell silent.

Some silently contacted their families, saying their final goodbyes.

Colin came to Marcus's side and whispered, "Boss, you should leave quickly. These nuclear bombs can't be stopped. If you leave now, you might still be able to reverse the situation in the future."

Marcus glared at Colin. "We still have one last chance!"

"As long as Ayanami gains control of the nuclear weapons control system, we can change the target location of the missiles. Even if we can't change the target location in time, we can detonate the nuclear bombs prematurely. Other countries will see that we detonated them early, and they will definitely detonate theirs too," Marcus explained.

Colin scratched his head. "Will other countries really detonate them too?"

"Of course they will," Marcus nodded. "If there is peace, who would want war?"

"But..." Colin hesitated.

Marcus interrupted Colin. "We still have deployed but unlaunched nuclear missiles. If we detonate ours first, and other countries don't, do you think we'll continue launching?"

"That makes sense," Colin replied.

"Mr. Foster, I've already controlled 772 deployed strategic nuclear missiles. Skynet is trying to break through, but its computing resources are no longer superior to mine," Ayanami responded.

"Excellent!" Elliott cheered first, followed by the others.

Marcus responded, "Control the launched missiles as soon as possible! Also, Ayanami, send a message worldwide stating that our country's nuclear missiles were launched by Skynet."

"Acknowledged," Ayanami replied.

Elliott wondered, "It seems the whole world should know about this, right?"

Marcus had previously sent "The End of the World Is Coming" to the entire internet through Ayanami; almost everyone who went online knew about it.

"I know," Marcus replied casually, then ignored Elliott and continued to instruct Ayanami. "Ayanami, keep sending messages indicating that we are fighting Skynet. If we win, we will change the target location of the nuclear missiles to outer space, or detonate them in outer space or at high altitude, so that other countries will cooperate with us."

"Received," Ayanami responded.

"Send another message: any region that was attacked by our country's nuclear missiles before we resolved the issue will receive federal compensation!" Marcus ordered.

Elliott and Dante immediately stopped him.

"No way!"

"You can't!"

Marcus looked at the two with a cold smile. "At a time like this, are you still calculating?"

The end of the world was coming, and Dante and Elliott were still calculating gains and losses. It has to be said that these two value money over their lives?

"Mr. Foster, we received a response from Russia. They said that if we resolve the nuclear crisis, they will immediately follow our lead to resolve the issue," Ayanami responded.

"Great Britain, France, China, along with other nations that launched nuclear missiles, have all stated that if we resolve the nuclear crisis, they will all join us in resolving it," Ayanami added.

Marcus snorted. "Did you hear that?"

Dante and Elliott remained silent.

Time continued to tick by.

Nearly two minutes later, Ayanami issued another notification. "Mr. Foster, I have gained control of one nuclear missile. I am modifying its target location, changing it from Russia to outer space."

"Good. After modifying its target location, immediately notify all other nations that have launched nuclear missiles," Marcus immediately ordered.

The nascent [Judgment Day] version of Skynet doesn't seem particularly powerful?

Or perhaps it doesn't possess enough computing power?

In the original Terminator storyline, Skynet succeeded so easily because no one stopped it, and no one realized its danger.

That's why Skynet was so devastating!

Now, with the added factor of Marcus, who is acutely aware of Skynet's dangers, and has even brought in a highly advanced AI from the Resident Evil universe to fight against it,

Skynet is in a truly difficult position!

From the very beginning, Skynet has faced immense challenges. Sending the Terminator would have been handing resources to Marcus, and now, by directly engaging in combat, it's been countered by Ayanami.

If Skynet were to communicate directly with Marcus, it would probably be crying out in despair, "This is impossible!"
