Chapter 130 - The Honeymoon

The wagon carrying Jax and Bunny rolled slowly away from Burrowlane.

Behind them the village was still waking.

Smoke rose from chimneys.

Farmers stepped into the fields.

And somewhere far in the distance, laughter from the previous night's celebration still echoed faintly.

Inside the wagon, however—

There was quiet.

Bunny leaned comfortably against Jax's shoulder.

Her fingers traced slow circles on his arm.

Neither of them spoke for a while.

For once, there was no urgency.

No war.

No politics.

No dungeon raids.

Just the road ahead and two days that belonged only to them.

Finally Bunny lifted her head and smiled.

"So…"

Jax glanced down at her.

"So?"

She leaned closer.

"Now what do we do?"

Jax raised an eyebrow.

"You planned this honeymoon."

"Yes."

She grinned mischievously.

"But I didn't plan the first five minutes."

Jax chuckled.

"Well in that case…"

He flicked a small rune in the wagon's interior.

The carriage shifted.

Walls expanded slightly as the dimensional magic inside activated.

Within seconds the wagon transformed from travel mode into the comfortable living space the Vixens used on the road.

Soft cushions.

A small table.

And through the doorway—

The large bedroom.

Bunny's ears perked immediately.

"Oh."

Her eyes sparkled.

"Right."

Jax stood and extended his hand.

"Well, Mrs. Darquebane…"

"Would you like the grand tour?"

Bunny took his hand without hesitation.

"I think I already know the best room."

The bedroom door closed behind them.

Morning sunlight filtered softly through the curtains.

For a moment they simply stood there looking at each other.

The excitement of the wedding.

The laughter of the reception.

The energy of the festival.

All of it faded away.

Now it was just the two of them.

Bunny stepped closer.

Her fingers slid up the front of Jax's shirt.

"You know…" she said softly.

"I've been thinking about this moment for a while."

Jax smirked.

"Since yesterday?"

Bunny shook her head.

"Since the first time you took me on that hide and seek date."

Jax laughed.

"That long?"

She poked his chest.

"You made me feel important."

"You made me feel alive."

Her voice softened.

"You made me feel like I was something more than just a cute bunny girl."

Jax brushed a strand of blue hair behind her ear.

"You were already special."

"You just needed someone to allow you to see it for yourself."

Bunny's ears twitched happily.

"Good answer."

Then she pushed him gently backward onto the bed.

Jax blinked.

"Well that escalated quickly."

Bunny climbed onto the mattress with surprising speed.

Her playful grin returned.

"I have a honeymoon strategy."

"Oh?"

She leaned forward proudly.

"I want to be on top."

Jax crossed his arms behind his head.

"That seems reasonable."

"No," she corrected.

"I want to stay on top until you pass out."

Jax burst out laughing.

"That's the strategy?"

She nodded enthusiastically.

"Yep!"

Jax tilted his head thoughtfully.

"And what happens if you pass out first?"

Bunny leaned down close enough that her nose almost touched his.

"Then you keep going until I wake up."

"And then we go some more."

Jax stared at her.

Then shook his head in amusement.

"You Rabbitkin really do have incredible stamina."

She beamed proudly.

"It's a cultural strength. And with your special training, I'm even more than ready for you now."

Hours passed.

The sun climbed higher in the sky.

At one point the wagon rocked slightly as Bunny screamed loudly from inside.

Later the screams turned into quiet conversation.

Then silence.

Then more screaming.

Eventually Bunny collapsed beside Jax on the bed, completely exhausted.

Her hair was a mess.

Her breathing heavy.

She stared at the ceiling.

"…okay."

Jax turned toward her.

"Okay what?"

She raised one finger.

"New strategy."

"Oh?"

She rolled over and rested her head on his chest.

"We take breaks."

Jax chuckled.

"That's probably wise."

She poked his ribs, teasingly.

"You're still conscious."

"You were supposed to pass out first."

Jax shrugged.

"I train regularly."

Bunny narrowed her eyes.

"Are you saying I need more training?"

Jax smiled.

"I'm saying the honeymoon still has another day."

Her ears shot upright again.

"Oh."

A grin slowly spread across her face.

"Well then."

She climbed onto her elbows and looked down at him.

"Round two starts after lunch."

They eventually left the bedroom long enough to cook something simple.

Jax made sandwiches. But with a Jax gourmet flare.

Bunny stole half the sides even before they even reached the plate.

They ate sitting on the wagon steps overlooking a quiet meadow, dressed only in towels.

For a while they simply enjoyed the peaceful scenery.

No one around for miles.

No one to ask for autographs.

No one to call them heroes.

Just birds.

Wind through the grass.

And the occasional distant farm animal.

Bunny leaned against him again.

"This is nice."

Jax nodded.

"It is."

She looked up at him.

"Do you ever think about how different your life is?"

"Constantly."

She smiled.

"Good."

Then she stood up suddenly.

"Alright."

Jax sighed dramatically.

"I knew that tone."

She grabbed his hand and pulled him toward the wagon.

"Break time is over."

"Round two."

Jax laughed as she dragged him inside.

And somewhere far behind them—

The road to Burrowlane remained quiet.

But inside that little honeymoon wagon—

The celebration was far from over.
