Chapter 207: Coincidence at the Supermarket
After finishing their shopping and having lunch outside, the two returned home.
As soon as they entered, Eriri impatiently rushed over to the Cat bed.
"I'm home!!!"
After scratching Camilla's chin, Eriri picked her up and began observing the two kittens inside the bed.
Since the two kittens were too young yesterday at the animal hospital, they hadn't been bathed, only given a simple cleaning.
Now that Camilla's nutrition had improved and her milk supply was abundant, it was clear that the bellies of both kittens were plump from feeding.
"Hehehe, eat plenty! Once you grow up a bit more, we can play together!"
"Eriri."
Kaede, who was brewing coffee, looked at Eriri and said, "I know having the Cats makes you very excited, but since we aren't going out today, how about we spend the afternoon drawing instead?"
"Sounds great, no problem!"
After petting Camilla for a while longer and setting her down, Eriri said, "Alright, I'm going to earn money for your Cat food now. Go play by yourselves."
She then headed straight to the studio.
After Kaede finished brewing his coffee, he came up to Camilla, scratched her chin, and said, "We won't let you go into the studio for now. If you go, you'll distract Eriri.
She can play with you later, and we have a lot of toys being delivered this afternoon!"
With that, he carried his coffee into the studio as well.
After working until past three in the afternoon, the pet store employees finally delivered all the items they had purchased.
After confirming that nothing was missing and having the clerks assemble the Cat tree, the preparations for the Cats were finally complete.
A corner of the already spacious living room had now been completely transformed into a Cat paradise, featuring a tall Cat tree, several scratching posts, Cat beds, and litter boxes—everything imaginable.
Eriri looked at everything and said with a smile, "It's a shame the two little ones can't use it yet."
"Soon enough. In another two months, these two little guys will start causing a ruckus."
After putting a large bag of Cat food into the cabinet, Kaede said, "We're running low on groceries. I'm going out to buy some. Eriri, do you need me to bring anything back?"
"Potato chips! And gummies! And seaweed snacks! And..."
Eriri rattled off a long list of items, forcing Kaede to grab a sticky note to write it all down before he finally left.
Arriving at the supermarket, Kaede pushed a shopping cart and began his grocery run.
"I'll buy the ingredients first: greens, cabbage, potatoes..."
He placed the items into the cart one by one, then Kaede headed to the meat section.
"Hm?"
Suddenly spotting someone ahead, Kaede smiled, pushed his cart over, and patted his shoulder: "Hey, Takasu."
Takasu Ryuji, startled, turned his head and saw Kaede.
"Asakura, what are you doing here?"
"Buying groceries, of course."
Kaede pointed to his shopping cart and said with a smile, "Aren't you doing the same?"
"Hahaha, you're right, that was silly of me."
Takasu Ryuji chuckled and said, "My attention was completely focused on the special offer beef over here just now, so my brain hadn't caught up."
Kaede looked at the product area in front of Takasu Ryuji. Sure enough, there was a section marked "Special Offer," and the quality of the beef looked quite good.
Kaede couldn't help but say, "You didn't memorize when the supermarket has special deals, did you?"
"Hehe, you noticed that."
Takasu Ryuji smiled and lifted the shopping basket he was holding, showing Kaede a carton of eggs inside. "The eggs were also on special, but they were all snatched up just now. You probably didn't even see them."
"...As expected of someone who has mastered the supermarket for years, accumulating vast experience fighting with Oba-sans for discounted items."
"Why do I feel like that wasn't a compliment?"
Takasu Ryuji shrugged, not dwelling on it, and immediately placed two packages of beef into his basket. He then said, "Oh, right, didn't Sawamura come out with you? Aren't you two usually inseparable?"
"Inseparable is an exaggeration."
Kaede grabbed a package of chicken wings, a package of pork chops, and a package of beef, and said with a smile, "Eriri is currently at home playing with the new members."
He then explained their experience from yesterday to Takasu Ryuji.
"Wow~~ You actually got Cat-scammed, huh?"
Takasu Ryuji said emotionally, "You guys are really lucky to run into such a friendly Cat and take it home to adopt.
With my eyes, even Cats get scared and run away. Luckily, I already have a parakeet at home. Cats... I don't need them. Yeah, I don't need them."
His tone revealed his helplessness regarding his inability to befriend Cats.
Kaede listened, smiled, and patted Takasu Ryuji's shoulder: "It is what it is. Although the kittens look cute, once they grow up, three Cats together might be too much excitement."
"Hahaha, well, your place is huge, so three Cats are nothing. I bet you could adopt three more without an issue.
As for me, I'll have to wait until later to think about getting a pet."
Takasu Ryuji genuinely loved small animals, but his naturally intimidating eyes were the bane of all cute creatures, making it impossible for him to approach pets; he could only admire them from afar.
Walking forward together, Kaede picked up a package of chicken drumsticks and put them in the cart, saying, "Actually, Takasu, hasn't the issue with your eyes gotten much better?
Because of your change in attitude, while your eyes still look a bit fierce, visually, people no longer immediately mistake you for a vicious delinquent.
If you want to, you can come over sometime and try interacting with my Camilla. What if it actually helps?"
Takasu Ryuji instantly looked at Kaede with shining eyes: "Can I really?"
"Of course. You aren't someone who dislikes animals; we all know that."
"Wait a minute."
Before Takasu Ryuji could thank him, he suddenly remembered something. "What did you say your Cat's name was?"
Kaede answered frankly, "Camilla."
Having used the name for a whole day, Kaede had gone from being unaccustomed to it to being completely used to the slightly unusual name.
"If I recall correctly, that name..."
"That's right, it's that one."
Takasu Ryuji's mouth twitched: "You guys really know how to have fun. What about the other two kittens?"
"We haven't decided yet. We're probably looking for two nice-sounding monster names."
Since Camilla's name was set, her two children couldn't continue with ultraman names, so Kaede and Eriri had switched to thinking about monster names, though they still needed to discuss it further.
Takasu Ryuji gasped: "Only you two would come up with names like that. I'm impressed."
