Gideon straightened, ready to be cold to her, but still wanted to ask her about winter only to find someone else standing there and take a seat across from him.
"It's a shame, but I'm not her," Elaine said casually as she took a sip from her mug. "Drink it. You look like you need it."
Gideon nodded, his gaze settling on her. She had finally taken off her doctor's coat. Instead, she wore a comfortable purple shirt that hugged her chest and a long white skirt. Dark circles lingered under her eyes, clear signs of exhaustion.
It made sense. She had been taking care of both the mother and the baby, traveling back and forth to Climber Rift to treat patients, and still managing her own clinic.
It was a relentless schedule.
Elaine set her cup down and looked at him. "What's wrong with you? Where's that smug grin you always have?"
Gideon exhaled. "Looks like the new Gideon finally understands what it means to lead and lost his spark."
