The two only stopped their attacks when the monster had shrunk significantly, its height only a head taller than them. The mouth at its chest had become a gruesome sight because its size did not shrink as the body did.
If the body shrank further, the mouth might be able to devour the monster. The two would not do something so foolish as to give a gift to an enemy.
It was a curse and already considered an enemy.
The monster grunted, its aura faint.
"You're about to die," Devion spoke matter-of-factly, devoid of provocation. However, the monster still took it as such.
"You're lucky... This lord isn't at its peak." Its voice, while stable, sounded weaker than the imposing version earlier. Its effect was not as irritating.
Khal and Devion did not respond. Both knew that the monster was saying the truth. They were confident they could defeat it, but it would not be as easy; they would surely struggle.
