Khal's expression turned solemn, although a hint of relief flickered in his eyes.
"What is it about?" Devion approached them, stood by Khal's side, and looked over the two S-class espers before glancing again at Khal.
Khal did not hide it either.
"About the curse..." Khal refrained from saying too much. He trusted his subordinates, but Ayen's uniqueness, especially about his potential ability to cure curses, was best known only to the three of them.
Devion quickly understood it as well, his expression turning serious just like Khal's.
Farrah and Calson did not interrupt them and stood respectfully before them.
Khal reached out and snaked his arm around Devion's waist, patting his sides to assure him.
"Everything's going to be okay," he whispered as he leaned into his ear.
Both of them were worried, more than anticipating any results. This was the reason they postponed testing Ayen's ability to increase the safety measures.
