Chapter 17 - CHAPTER 15

Chapter 15

"I'm getting lazy doing all this alone…"

Loud music blared through the master bedroom.

Luggage and all sorts of belongings were scattered everywhere. Yeonho was busy unpacking and organising everything.

Branded clothes, shoes, boots, makeup, jewellery and accessories were spread all across the room.

Just looking at the mess was enough to make him feel annoyed and irritable.

"What if I call for help? What's Mr. Han doing right now anyway?"

Getting help from the old man did sound like a good idea at first but then he remembered.

Having a whole group of servants visit his room all at once would only draw unwanted attention.

He was currently on Gyeongjae's territory, and acting recklessly now would be a stupid mistake.

Yeonho let out a dejected sigh.

"I guess I'll just do it on my own then."

Before he got back to work, he checked the time on his phone. It was almost noon.

For a moment, he thought about going out to eat, but decided against it. He still had way too much left to finish.

He worked for another hour straight, and stopped only when it was time for lunch, taking a proper break to eat.

Once he was done, he got back to his work feeling more energised. He pushed himself to finish unpacking and sorting everything properly.

After all, tomorrow was the day Hana and Gyeongjae were supposed to meet for dinner.

Whether he felt like it or not, he had to get everything ready first.

Hours passed, and it was nearly 6:00 PM. Yeonho was almost done, though a few things still remained.

He arranged his empty bags neatly on the storage rack, then pulled out his laptop from one of the cases. The same laptop he had found back in Russia.

He set it down on the bed and opened it up. Seeing the battery was almost dead, he plugged the charger into the side table and carried on.

This laptop was precious to him; it held all the heartbreaking videos and recordings of the original Choi Yeonho.

Yeonho paused for a moment, his mind drifting to all the times he had watched the original owner of this body crying in those files, bearing all his pain alone.

"I need to stop getting sentimental. I'm the new Yeonho now."

He shook the thought away and got back to work, hanging his clothes neatly inside the large walk-in closet.

Before he knew it, his phone started ringing. He glanced at the time. It was already 7:50 PM, almost 8:00. Instead of picking up, he simply ignored it.

The phone kept ringing again and again, but Yeonho didn't even bother checking who it was.

He was too focused, and strangely enough, he actually enjoyed fixing up his new space and arranging his things exactly how he liked them.

Loud music was still playing in the background as he worked.

After a while, he finally stopped and picked up his phone from the bed. When he saw the list of missed calls, his whole body froze.

"Mr. Han… I should have checked earlier. Now he's definitely going to scold me for not answering."

He sat down on the edge of the bed, which was still messy with piles of clothes.

Just then, his phone rang again, showing Jiseok's name. He answered immediately.

"Hey, Mr. Han! How—?"

He didn't even get to finish his greeting before Jiseok cut in.

"Why weren't you picking up? I've been calling you for ages."

Han Jiseok's voice sounded serious, and Yeonho could easily picture the stern look on the older man's face.

"Sorry, that's my fault. I've just been really busy unpacking and organising everything here."

Yeonho leaned back, lying down against the soft pile of clothes on the bed.

"I see. Where did you go last night? My information team reported that you visited a high-end private restaurant."

'Of course the old man keeps an eye on me.'

"Yeah, I did try to dine there. But there was some kind of incident, so I just had them deliver the food straight to my hotel instead."

Yeonho twirled his fingers casually as he stared at his nails, acting completely unbothered . Leaving out the parts about seeing Hana, her secretary, and Lee Dongjun entirely.

The line went quiet for a brief moment. Curious, Yeonho called out.

"Why are you being so quiet all of a sudden?"

"That restaurant isn't just any ordinary place. I'm surprised you even managed to get in. Did you use the black card I gave you? Why didn't you tell me you wanted to eat there? We could have made a proper reservation and gone for dinner together."

A small smile form at Yeonho's lips. For some reason, he found this funny, even cute.

Maybe it was just amusing to hear how closely Jiseok kept track of him, or how quickly the man jumped at the chance to invite him out.

"It's fine. I told you, don't come near me for now. Once I have time, we can definitely have dinner together, Mr. Han."

"I'm sure you can spare a little time for your old man. How was the food anyway? It's been ages since you've had proper Korean food."

"It was amazing. Way too expensive, but worth every single won."

Yeonho was glad he had chosen that place. The food really was top-tier. He had expected nothing but the best for that price, and it had lived up to every bit of it.

'Now that I think about it…'

A sudden thought popped into his head.

"Mr. Han, I actually wanted to ask you something. Is there a spending limit on my card?"

He really should have asked this earlier before getting too caught up in his plans to ruin the original plot.

On the other end of the call, Jiseok chuckled.

"Of course, dear. Just because it's a black card doesn't mean it has no limit."

Yeonho sat up abruptly, his mind racing. He had actually assumed it would be unlimited.

"But other people have cards without limits, so why is mine restricted?" he questioned.

"Well, those are special exceptions. I can't give you a completely unlimited card just yet. I need to make sure you don't spend every last won and run off somewhere, dear."

There it was again, the same old topic. It was obvious Jiseok still didn't fully trust him.

"Mr. Han, how many times do I have to tell you that I'm not going anywhere?"

It felt like the same conversation all over again. Yeonho knew very well that in this story, Jiseok was only supposed to be a side character.

Lim Taejoon had written the whole novel, and Yeonho remembered every single detail. Yet Jiseok's behavior felt oddly different lately… or maybe he was just overthinking it.

'I'm probably just overreacting. Mr. Han has always been like this anyway.'

He brushed the thought aside. He was already frustrated from hearing the same lines over and over, and on top of that, he was exhausted after spending the whole day tidying up his room.

"I'll say it one more time — I am not running away, Mr. Han. So can we please stop talking about this?"

"Sure, you say that. And I do exactly what I want. Don't forget who's in charge here."

Jiseok's tone turned serious. Right... The old man was as possessive as ever.

Yeonho let out a long, heavy sigh, and immediately regretted it. That little huff had probably come off sounding rude to Jiseok.

"Right, I know. I'm your mistress, aren't I? I'm just frustrated, that's all. I've been tired from unpacking all day, Mr. Han."

He glanced around the room, still annoyed by the little mess everywhere.

"Oh really? Then maybe it's time you stop acting like a spoiled little brat and learn to do some work yourself."

Yeonho rolled his eyes. Jiseok was right though.

The original Choi Yeonho had indeed been written as spoiled and pampered, and even Yeonho from his old life had been exactly the same.

The similarities were almost ridiculous. Lim Taejoon really had written the character exactly like how he was in real life.

They talked for a little while longer before ending the call.

Jiseok asked why he was hiding his appearance, and Yeonho explained it was to keep his identity secret. Much to his surprise, Jiseok actually praised him for being so careful and smart.

"So it turns out the black card isn't as powerful as I thought it was…"

He flopped back down onto the bed and stared up at the ceiling. Now he had a new problem. Money.

If he reached the spending limit, where would he get more? Would he just have to keep asking Jiseok for more?

At this rate, he really could call himself a gold digger and Jiseok his sugar daddy.

"What am I supposed to do now? Get a job…?"

No, that was way too risky. Going out in disguise every single day while he was busy carrying out his plans to ruin the plot was far too much trouble.

Even one small mistake and he'd be recognized instantly. It really was a blessing and a curse. His face was so striking and unforgettable, and everyone already saw him as the villain anyway.

Yeonho pulled a pillow over his head and groaned. "Just one more problem…"

Then, he suddenly tossed the pillow away.

"Wait a minute — no! I can earn money without even stepping foot outside! I'm Choi Yeonho! If I could do it back in my old world, I can definitely do it here too!"

A grin spread across his face as the idea hit him. He sat up, unplugged his laptop, and grabbed it immediately.

"First things first, let's do some online shopping."

His fingers moved quickly as he opened a shopping site. He ordered a high-end computer setup, professional cameras, lighting, and a microphone, paying right away.

The delivery was scheduled to arrive in just two days.

"Fast delivery too? Perfect — I can't wait."

Back in his previous life, he'd worked as a part-time model and also as a stylist.

He'd always loved fashion and clothes so much that brands were constantly asking him to walk shows and promote their work.

This was the perfect opportunity.

While keeping his identity hidden, he could show off his styling skills and fashion sense through live streams.

And that wasn't all. He could take photos and videos of his work to share too. Just like before, he could do everything completely on his own terms.

"I'll make sure everyone sees just how good I really am."
