I look back and forth between Kaelen and Lucian's fiercely angry faces and let out a long, quiet sigh. I have got to remind these idiots where we are before they declare war in the middle of a waltz.
I firmly grab Lucian's arm, squeezing myself against his side to physically break his murderous focus. I look up at him, flashing a bright, demanding smile.
"Let's dance!"
Lucian snaps his icy gaze down to me. He stares for a long, tense moment, the heavy force still swirling around him. Then, his broad chest rises and falls as he takes one deep, steadying breath to rein in his killing intent. His sharp jaw relaxes just a fraction, and he gives a tiny nod.
I immediately shoot a sharp glare over my shoulder at Kaelen, giving my knight a strict, wordless eye-signal to get back to his position by the wall. Stand down, boy! No more scenes! Kaelen blinks, the glowing intensity leaving his eyes as he reluctantly bows his head and retreats into the shadows.
