(The Next Morning)
I wake up late, my body still exhausted from the sheer adrenaline crash of last night. I stare up at the unfamiliar ceiling of the 4th Upper Right Chamber, my mind immediately racing as the memories come flooding back.
Why didn't the System warn me about the assassins? I frown, pulling the thick silk sheets up to my chin.
The system flashed a red warning to 'Beware of Helena.' But it said absolutely nothing about five Bladewardens dropping from the balcony. Was it because the System didn't register them as a threat until they actually attacked? Or... was the warning about Helena entirely separate from the assassination?
Is the warning just about the relationship problems she might cause? I scoff quietly to myself. Because if her only real threat is trying to steal my husband, then fine. I am completely capable of tackling that.
