Mirael happily runs off to meditate and sync her two cores. Once the heavy oak door clicks shut behind her, my teasing smile fades into something much more serious.
I look over at my towering knight. "Kael... that thing about demons being 'corrupted' throughout history... it doesn't have to be the same fate for Mirael, right?"
Kael gives a slow, steady nod. "It is not a guaranteed fate, My Lady. But it is entirely necessary to let her know the risks. Because with great power comes great responsibility."
I freeze. My jaw literally drops.
"Eh? Ehhh!!!" I gasp in absolute shock, pointing an accusing finger at him. "You just copied my line from my speech!"
"I merely took inspiration from your words, My Lady," Kael deadpans, his armored shoulders shifting, not looking even slightly apologetic.
