Grandpa Eldric and Master Borin just stare at each other. Five agonizing seconds of dead-serious, unbroken eye contact tick by.
Do I talk… or stay quiet? I panic internally. And seriously, how the heck did he know it was Grandpa so fast in that ridiculous disguise?!
After what feels like an eternity of hard staring, Master Borin suddenly bursts into a booming, raspy laugh. "It has been years since you showed your ugly face around here, you old man!"
"You are actually older than me," Grandpa points out, his tense posture completely relaxing.
"Just by three years, you seventy-seven-year-old menace!" Master Borin barks back.
Whoa. Okay, so they are actually on really good terms, I realize, letting out a breath I didn't know I was holding.
Master Borin's laughter fades, and his sharp, critical eyes dart to me for a hard, calculating second. He turns back to Grandpa. "Now, tell me. What actually brings you down here?"
