This is not right... everything in this Empire... no, this entire world is so messed up! Ever since I arrived in this world, I have only been fed crumbs of its deep, systemic unfairness.
But those crumbs are more than enough. It makes me want to tear it all down and fix it.
"I can fix it," I say.
The words leave my mouth before I can stop them.
I step forward, completely abandoning my noble etiquette, and look straight into Master Borin's hardened, angry eyes. "I won't stand here and pretend the past never happened. I won't tell you to forget it. I won't tell you it didn't destroy everything."
My voice rings out over the crackle of the forge, fierce and unwavering. "But... but I promise you this! This district—no… all of you. The Felyr too. You'll get your rights. And this place? I'll turn it into something the Empire can't ignore."
Grandpa says nothing. Master Borin says nothing.
