I stepped out of the bath chamber, and Kael immediately fell into step behind me, his voice urgent. "My lady, I do not think of you as undisciplined—"
"Yeah, well, I think you're insulting me," I cut in, marching toward my room. I was past the point of being reasonable; I was hungry enough to eat the furniture.
"No, my lady! I would never dream of disrespecting or insulting you!" he insisted, his shadow looming large against the hallway walls.
"Yeah? Prove it!" I challenged as I swung the door to my room open. Elin was already there, the steam from the freshly served plates on the table smelling like heaven.
"What should I do to prove it?" Kael asked, his hand moving toward the hilt of his blade with terrifying sincerity. "Should I take my life—"
