(Midday – Personal Study)
The scratch of quills against parchment was the only sound in the room until Elena finally dropped hers with a dramatic groan. She stretched her arms high over her head, her joints popping. "Big sister, let's take a small break. My fingers are cramping."
I set my own quill down and glanced out the window at the high sun. "Hmm... you're right. It's about time for lunch anyway."
"Right?!" Elena said, her eyes lighting up at the mention of food.
I pushed the stack of papers aside—we were making progress, but it was slow going. "Go ahead and tell Elin to bring our lunch here. I'll be back in a bit."
"Where are you going, Big Sister?" Elena asked, curious as she straightened her pile of documents.
