"Yey!!! Grandpa is the best!" I cheer, hopping on the spot. Then, a brilliant, beautifully chaotic spark ignites in my mind. "Oh! After that, how about a magical battle between your two prized pupils versus you, Grandpa? A two-on-one match!"
Grandpa's nostalgic, smiling face instantly drops into a deadpan stare. For a fraction of a second, the legendary Oathbound Lion of Eryndor looks like he just stepped on a literal Lego.
But he composes himself real quick. He covers his mouth with a balled fist and lets out a very forced, theatrical cough. "Ahem! Well... ah, child! What is this lovely pearl pin in your hair? I notice it has been on your bangs ever since you arrived from the Maren Ocean!"
"Oh, this?" I blink, completely thrown off the scent for a second as I raise my hand to gently touch the sleek, iridescent pearl pin holding my bangs back. "Queen Serelyth gave it to me. She was wearing it herself, but right when I was leaving, she took it off and gifted it to me."
