Once the plan was locked in, Kurapika threw on a quick disguise and left the hotel with Shizuku. Ronin sent a shadow clone trailing behind them as backup.
Kurapika's job was simple: link up with other players already itching to hit the three Spiders and keep them busy. He would draw their attention while everyone else lined up spell-card strikes. The real goal was killing at least one of them. Without Ronin in the mix, the players would probably just harass the Troupe and pick off stragglers. Most still didn't grasp how dangerous the three really were. They kept telling themselves the Spiders would grab what they wanted and leave.
Kurapika knew better. Once the Spiders had enough cards to trade for Angel's Breath, they could heal up and start using lives as leverage. Anyone who had crossed them would be first on the chopping block. With Kurapika offering to play decoy, the attack order finally came together. Fewer people joined than he expected, but that was fine. Once the first wave scored cards off the Spiders, the rest would jump in fast. Greed always did the heavy lifting.
The whole thing moved stupidly quick. From the moment Kurapika walked into the meeting to the moment the attack was green-lit, Ronin basically just took a three-hour nap in the hotel. His only real task was simple: the second Kurapika gave the signal, he would appear outside the spell-card shop and hit Lev with a Migration card.
The destination was Andoniba. Players were already waiting there. The moment Lev popped out of the Migration light, they would swarm him, strip every spell card from his book, and go hard for whatever he kept in his specified pocket. Everyone else had their own assignments and moved out fast.
Ronin walked to the shop alone. The street was dead quiet. Even the city guards gave the place a wide berth. After the Spiders had camped here, nobody wanted trouble. Ronin slipped into a storefront across the street and waited. He couldn't see inside, but nobody inside could see him either.
Inside the shop, Feitan, Phinks, and Lev finally rolled the dice right. Forty unique spell cards sat in Lev's free pocket. The moment he confirmed the trade, white light burst from the cards. A glowing angel appeared and gently exhaled over him. The bandages around Lev's body slid away as fresh skin grew back in seconds. The holes in his flesh sealed. His body looked whole again.
Ronin's comm card buzzed. Kurapika was in position. Ronin stood up, aura already sharpened to a razor edge. He wasn't planning on a clean Migration. He wanted to hand Lev a going-away present first.
The shop door slammed open. All three Spiders snapped their heads toward the entrance. Nobody had dared walk in for days. When they saw who it was, Feitan and Phinks both went wide-eyed.
Ronin.
Phinks reacted first. "We're gone!" He yanked a Leave card from his book. One tap and he would be out of the game for good.
Feitan vanished from his spot in a blur, umbrella already open and thin sword flashing free.
Lev's bandages hit the floor. New skin gleamed under the lights. The piercings along his body clicked as he moved. His battle suit materialized around him and a double-headed spear dropped into his hands. Killing intent rolled off him in waves.
Ronin's eyes locked on him. The three-tomoe Sharingan spun once, then shifted into the Mangekyō pattern.
"Amaterasu."
