The hotel owner was undergoing a complicated mix of feelings. At first, she had thought it was a man and a woman inside.
But as she took in the scene, that thought crumbled completely. Inside the room, the air had unknowingly turned heavy, combining with the electric buzzing of the wall lamps and their faint glow, making the room feel overwhelming.
The hunter's face twisted slightly as he tried to comprehend the situation. Ryan could easily imagine such a scene from the hotel owner's perspective. Who wouldn't misunderstand in such a situation?
Damn it, Ryan cursed inwardly.
"Hey, you... can we talk? The situation hasn't developed to the point of killing each other, right?"
The hunter pondered for a moment before nodding slightly.
And that was the conclusion. Who would have thought that the situation could be calmed down by mere words? In fact, the hunter had never thought of killing Ryan in the first place. All he wanted was to get his money back and teach Ryan a lesson.
But now that someone had seen them, and at such an awkward time, he had no choice but to cooperate.
The two retreated a few steps from each other. Ryan patted the dirt off his clothes and said, "Let's clear out the misunderstanding first, otherwise, this news will spread throughout the entire town."
Rumors in this town traveled faster than lightning. In just a mere hour, the news would spread to every corner.
After reaching an agreement, the two of them immediately captured the hotel owner, who was trying to peek from the doorway.
"Hey, what are you doing? Don't tell me you want to..." The hotel owner's face flushed as she imagined the scene.
Ryan and the hunter looked at each other, and a creepy smile formed on their lips. Seeing this smile, the hotel owner's eyes widened just as she was about to scream for help.
A quiet chuckle escaped Ryan's lips. "You sure have a wild imagination, but it wasn't what you thought. We are old friends who have just reunited. We were simply remembering our childhood when we used to fight each other. Just now, when you saw us, we were currently wrestling, and you just entered at an awkward moment when we were on top of each other."
Ryan's mind was a vortex of thoughts as he spun a false story to fool the hotel owner.
The hunter couldn't help but praise Ryan from the bottom of his heart. This man was indeed quick-minded.
The hotel owner seemed enlightened and moved by Ryan's words. "So it was like that... But you once told me that you don't have any relatives or friends. Why do you suddenly have a friend?"
Ryan was caught off guard by this question, but he quickly thought of a solution. "Who would reveal their private life to a stranger? I didn't tell you before because I didn't trust you. Who knows? If I told you, what if you hired an assassin to murder my relatives? What would I do then?" Ryan said with utter seriousness.
"That makes sense," the hotel owner nodded slightly, expressing her understanding.
"Then why did you suddenly capture me?" the hotel owner asked thoughtfully. "Your friend and you reuniting has nothing to do with me, so why capture me?"
Ryan chuckled. "It's because I feared you would misunderstand us as having that kind of relationship. That's why we captured you to clear things up."
The hotel owner finally sighed in relief. She opened her mouth as if to say something else, but eventually closed it and remained silent. After clearing up the misunderstanding, they let her go.
Watching the door close, the two of them sighed in relief.
The hunter dropped to one knee, sweat breaking out all over his body. "Damn, we almost fell into a pit just now."
"Yes. If it weren't for my quick mind and sweet words, we would probably be doomed. Perhaps within the next hour, reporters would have gathered outside my doorstep," Ryan boasted.
Ryan looked at the hunter thoughtfully. "You should leave, otherwise someone might misunderstand. Judging from your appearance, this town is the best when it comes to misunderstandings."
The hunter looked down at his body and then shifted his gaze to Ryan. Their clothes were torn at several spots, with injuries visible all over their bodies.
"That's right, I must leave immediately. Thank you for helping me just now," the hunter thanked Ryan with a bright smile on his face.
After a while, the hunter finally departed. Standing at the door, Ryan waved his hand at the hunter with a wide smile on his face.
The hunter walked out of the hotel and suddenly turned back. "I seem to have forgotten something..." But no matter how hard he tried to recall, he couldn't remember anything at all.
"Forget it. I should go find something to eat."
Back inside Room 123, Ryan sat on the chair with composure. His injuries were completely gone, as if he hadn't been hurt at all. He was perfectly fine, just as he had been at the Love Bar.
That hunter's physical strength is incredibly strong. If I hadn't deflected his attacks, I might have suffered heavy injuries by now.
Back during the fight, when the hunter attacked Ryan, the blows had clearly appeared to land. In reality, Ryan's body simply flowed with the trajectory of the fists. Even when the hunter punched Ryan in the face, the fist landed with full force, but to make sure the hunter didn't notice anything suspicious, Ryan chose not to evade it entirely. He allowed it to hit him, but with a swift movement, he retreated a few steps backward so that it would only make his nose bleed.
If a normal person had taken that punch head-on, they would have fainted on the spot.
As for why the hunter had suddenly forgotten everything... the corner of Ryan's mouth curled into a smile.
Ryan looked at the messy room with a hint of depression. "I guess I have to sleep on the floor today." He shook his head slightly.
Meanwhile, the hotel owner walked along the corridor with an expressionless face.
Do you guys take me for a fool? Still, that Ryan is no ordinary person at all. I should pay close attention to him. With that thought, she licked her lips with interest.
Soon, night descended. The moonlight cast a radiant glow, illuminating the land with faint light. The town was still filled with a lively atmosphere. The glass street lamps turned on one by one, and the lights inside the buildings remained lit.
Biuosis Town at night was truly beautiful. Yet, at this time, groups of officers began to appear. Strangely enough, there were many different groups, some wearing distinct uniforms and operating in different styles. Each team seemed to patrol its own territory to ensure the town's security.
Ryan was sitting in his chair with a tired expression, sweat forming all over his body as if he had just taken a shower. He had spent the entire day cleaning the room. It was now unusually tidy, the crumbled bed was gone, and the floor was swept clean.
"Sigh, I don't usually clean a room like this, but if I were to leave it as it was, I might be doomed when the sweeper gets here."
The sweeper of each hotel had permission to report rooms to the hotel owner. If a room was left in a mess or any object was broken or missing, they could report it, forcing the tenant to pay compensation to both the owner and the sweeper.
That would be a double payment, so Ryan chose to clean it up himself.
After settling everything down, Ryan shifted his gaze to the wall clock. It was 8:23 P.M.
Despite the late hour, the town was still buzzing with activity.
"This town is truly unique. If I didn't know this was just a town, I might think it was the capital already."
Capital and town were completely different words in the Ditness country. The term "capital" was used for the main city of the country where the royal faction gathered, while "town" was used for smaller cities under the country's jurisdiction.
"Where should I sleep today?" Looking at the clean floor reflecting his image, Ryan couldn't help but sigh inwardly.
Without another thought, he picked up his pillow and blanket from the spot where his bed used to be. Looking up at the dark ceiling, Ryan pondered for a moment before closing his eyes to sleep.
The town finally fell silent. The buildings had lost their lights, leaving only the glass street lamps illuminated. The midnight air was cold to the bone, and the sky was devoid of stars, leaving only the moon.
Inside Room 123, the moonlight shone through the glass window, illuminating the space with a faint glow as the darkness seemed to come alive.
The second floor of the hotel was still lit by the glass wall lamps. A buzzing noise echoed as snake-like electricity danced across them. Faint footsteps resonated along the corridor, sometimes light, other times heavy.
Ryan, who was sleeping soundly, suddenly opened his eyes. His sharp gaze swiftly scanned every direction of the room, looking for something. Noticing nothing out of place, he shook his head slightly and collapsed back to sleep.
The footsteps continued to echo throughout the second floor, their destination remaining unknown.
As the sound persisted, it suddenly faded away at a certain point. The entire second floor sank into deep silence. A shadow of a burly man appeared in front of Room 123.
It was unknown when he had first appeared. He extended a hand toward the door handle. His hand was covered by a blue glove, dark bloodstains smeared all over it as if it hadn't been cleaned in a long time.
He twisted the handle, and darkness greeted his eyes.
