"How noisy."
Feng Che snapped his fingers, and Gengar immediately used Shadow Claw to gag the Yin-Xiao brothers, cutting off their threats.
"Yin, Xiao, you two should just sit back and watch how I destroy this Trevenant and Aegislash," Feng Che said coldly. "Go, Greninja!"
Greninja lunged forward, water blades glowing as it met the colossal, possessed Trevenant. The Trevenant's massive red eye glared back with an aura of pure cruelty and bloodlust; it was no longer a natural Pokémon.
Roots erupted from the earth like jagged spears, piercing through Greninja's chest—or so it seemed. With a flash of blue light, the 'Greninja' vanished, and the real one appeared mid-air, slicing through the wooden spikes with ease.
"Greninja, aim for the eye! That's the core!"
Greninja nodded, using its high-speed agility to weave past the giant's fists. Every time the Trevenant struck the ground, the gym shook as if from an earthquake. Greninja sprinted up the giant's arm, heading straight for the crimson orb.
Meanwhile, a pale green light began to radiate from Feng Che.
Seeing the light, Aegislash began to struggle violently. Gengar snorted, tightening its Shadow Stitching. To the cursed blade, Feng Che's Viridian light felt like a red-hot branding iron. Aegislash let out a soul-piercing shriek.
Feng Che felt his internal reserves of the Power of Viridian draining rapidly. Billows of black mist were forced out of Aegislash's body, revealing the spirits of countless Pokémon trapped within. Their eyes were red with resentment, but as they touched the green radiance, the darkness began to dissolve.
The spirits slowly regained their clarity. They nodded to Feng Che in gratitude before transforming into motes of white light. As they ascended, some of the light flowed into Feng Che, replenishing his depleted energy.
Aegislash's power level plummeted: Pseudo-King... Gym-Leader... Senior Elite... Elite.
The Yin-Xiao brothers watched their masterpiece crumble, their hearts feeling as if they were being carved out by a knife. They struggled against Gengar's Shadow Balls, but they were pinned. One more step, and that Aegislash would have been a God of Death. Now, it was nothing.
Gradually, Aegislash stopped struggling. Its physical form shattered into white particles and vanished.
Simultaneously, Greninja reached the giant Trevenant's head and thrust both water blades into the red eye. A torrent of dark blood surged out, and the colossal wooden body began to rot at an impossible speed, turning to dust in the wind.
The black energy released from the two Pokémon formed a massive storm cloud over the gym, blotting out the sun. But then, thousands of white lights rose from the surrounding Viridian Forest. They swarmed the black clouds, purifying the malice.
In an instant, the sky cleared, and a literal ocean of white clouds poured down into the gym.
In that moment, Feng Che felt it: The Gaia Consciousness of the Viridian Forest.
The forest was welcoming him. Feng Che felt his mind merge with the environment. He was the flowing stream, the ancient stones, and the gentle breeze. He could "see" through every leaf and talk to the sky itself.
When he finally snapped out of the trance, he realized his Psychic power had solidified into a state as pure and hard as a master-cut diamond.
[Congratulations, Feng Che,] Mewtwo said, its own aura surging with divine pressure before it masked itself. [The forest has blessed us. I can feel it... I am a 'complete' lifeform now. I am no longer an outcast of this world.]
"It's more than that," Feng Che said, opening his palm. A beautiful flower bloomed instantly from his skin, withered into seeds, and fell to the ground. Within seconds, a small field of flowers had grown. "This is the ultimate Power of Viridian. I can manifest Grassy Terrain at will."
He then turned his purple-glowing eyes toward the Yin-Xiao brothers. He read their memories, uncovering the location of the ancient Emperor's tomb—a nameless island in the Kalos Region.
"Gengar, when I become a Champion, I'll take you to that tomb," Feng Che promised. "We will burn that Emperor's soul to nothingness."
Gengar nodded, its own malice washed away by the Gaia consciousness. It now saw a clear path to the Champion tier.
Feng Che then looked at his Ditto. After the purification, the pink blob had turned a shimmering silver-white. Within its consciousness, the "ticking time bomb" of resentment from the corpses it had eaten was gone, replaced by a pure, glass-like clarity and a massive, silver-grey feather floating in the center.
Feng Che wiped the Yin-Xiao brothers' memories of the treasure and his powers. They would only remember entering the gym, losing a fierce battle, and being arrested.
Indigo Plateau: President Goodshow's Office
Goodshow was humming a tune while brewing tea. A shadow detached itself from the wall—an Elite trainer known only as Kage (Shadow).
"That brat is officially the Viridian Gym Leader now," Kage rasped. "How can you be so relaxed?"
"Kage, you're an Elite in battle, but a novice in politics," Goodshow chuckled. "I'm waiting for him to trip. Per League rules, a new Leader must open their doors to challengers within three months. If he delays, I have the legal right to strip him of his title."
