"Trumbeak, I mean no harm!" Feng Che called out.
But the forest was already on high alert. The Toucannon (铳嘴大鸟) took action. Their massive beaks glowed a fiery red, heating to extreme temperatures as they folded their wings and plummeted from the canopy, aiming straight for Corviknight like living meteors.
Corviknight remained motionless in mid-air. The Toucannon's heated beaks slammed into its steel-blue plumage with a heavy thud, but the impact left not a single scratch on the metallic feathers.
Rebounding off the "Living Armor," the Toucannon scattered, crashing into the thick bark of the giant trees. The impact shook the branches, sending a deluge of collected rainwater cascading down onto the stunned birds.
"Gaa!" the Toucannon leader shrieked.
The remaining flock opened their maws wide, unleashing a combined Snarl (大声咆哮). Dark, sonic ripples tore through the air.
"Corviknight, use Hurricane!"
With a powerful beat of its wings, Corviknight summoned a localized cyclone. The wind collided with the sonic waves, resulting in a violent explosion. The boom echoed across the island, startling thousands of bird Pokémon into the sky.
"Let's go, Corviknight. Don't get bogged down," Feng Che commanded, tossing several Poké Balls at high-potential Pikipek and Trumbeak before soaring higher to escape the gathering swarm.
Other Side of the Forest
Winona paused, sensing the distant explosion. "It seems the trainers are already engaging the wildlife. We must be cautious; the Pokémon here have an incredibly territorial instinct. They will swarm anyone who steps into their domain."
"Hahaha! Island of Flight, here I come!" A voice boomed from above.
A massive airship deactivated its cloaking device, descending from the clouds. The hatch opened to reveal General Jecal, a green-haired man equipped with a rocket booster and high-tech scanning glasses. Six orb-shaped drones crackled with electricity around him.
"The locals are so welcoming!" Jecal raised a hand, firing a Shock Bolt that sent a Swellow spiraling toward the earth in a heap of golden sparks. "Capture them all! The potential of these specimens is off the charts!"
Island Periphery
In the northeast, a blue submarine surfaced. Matt (滴) of Team Aqua climbed out. "This is it. Remember the plan: kill the brat the Sea God hates, and then strip this island of every resource for Team Aqua!"
In the southeast, Courtney (火雁) of Team Magma looked at the humid jungle with pure disgust. "I hate damp places. Go, Ninetales. Turn this region into a sea of fire!"
Vast plumes of flame began to consume the greenery, turning the paradise into a hellscape.
The Meadow Border
Feng Che, riding Corviknight, reached the edge of the forest. Below him stood the gaunt, white-haired old man he had noticed earlier.
The old man released a Galvantula, which immediately shot an Electroweb upward. Corviknight banked sharply to the left, the web whistling past.
"A pleasure to meet you. My name is Ran (乱), one of the Three Ninjas under Lord Ando Kinji," the man said, leaning on his cane. Feng Che noticed a glass orb on the side of the cane pulsing with dark energy.
Ran released his remaining team: a Manectric and a Luxray. Both were shrouded in thick, black "Demonic Qi."
"Manectric, Thunderbolt! Luxray, Electric Terrain! Galvantula, Electroweb!"
Luxray slammed its paws down, black lightning surging from its claws to coat the ground in a dark, electrified field. Manectric's yellow mane crackled as it called down a blackened thundercloud.
"I've done my homework. You're a psychic," Ran chuckled. "So I've used these 'Malediction Stones' to seal the surrounding space. Your Teleportation won't work here."
Feng Che tried to focus his psychic energy. Indeed, the spatial coordinates were scrambled.
"You will sink into despair," Ran said. "Your soul will be sacrificed to the Sky God. I'm lucky—my two idiot companions probably got lost in the woods, leaving the prize to me."
"I have one question before I 'sink into despair,'" Feng Che said curiously. "What exactly is this 'Demonic Qi'? Even if I die, let me die understanding."
"Since you're so eager to know the origin of our power... it comes from the Gods," Ran explained. "Our leader, High Priest Shaka, discovered that by injecting this essence into humans, we can augment Pokémon beyond their natural limits. It's like the Power of Viridian or Dragonic Power, but it allows for spatial sealing and absolute destruction. Only one in a thousand survives the infusion. You cost us many of those elites at the Bell Tower. Now, it's time to pay."
So, they are indeed the Jingten Cult, Feng Che thought. His explanation matches the lore of the 'Sky Demon' perfectly. To end this, I must complete the Trial of the Rainbow Hero and wake Ho-Oh.
"Glad to know the survival rate is so low," Feng Che smirked. "Shaka must be crying over his losses."
