A moment later, Giovanni strode into the meeting room, his sharp gaze sweeping over every executive present with an intensity that demanded absolute silence.
"Good. Everyone is here," Giovanni began, leaning forward as his hands clasped on the table. "I've gathered you to discuss the next evolution of Team Rocket. My goal is simple: we will absorb and conquer the underground organizations of every other region in the world."
"I call this: The Rainbow Team Rocket Project."
Giovanni's face broke into a confident, predatory smile.
Rainbow Team Rocket Project? Feng Che's heart skipped a beat. He's proposing this already?
Beside him, Sabrina sensed his sudden inner turmoil. She reached out under the table, her hand gripping his firmly to ground him. What's wrong? Your emotions spiked. Did something happen? her voice echoed in his mind.
No, I'm just surprised by the sheer scale of the Boss's ambition, Feng Che replied, not daring to tell her the truth.
In the original timeline, Rainbow Team Rocket was a late-game development, surfacing only after Team Rocket had been decimated by the League during the Saffron City incident. It was only then that Giovanni consolidated resources from other dimensions and regions to create the ultimate version of the organization. But here, thanks to Feng Che's interference, Team Rocket had preserved its core strength and even developed advanced Mythical weapons like Genesect. Giovanni's ambition was simply accelerating.
"Each of you will be responsible for a specific region," Giovanni continued, his eyes burning with a dark fire. "We will build a super-organization that spans the globe. When that day comes, we will face the Global Pokémon Federation in a final war to decide who truly rules this world."
"I have already designated your assignments. You will receive the details via encrypted mail on your communicators after this session."
"That is all. Meeting adjourned. Feng Che, Sabrina, Lt. Surge, and Janine—stay behind."
The other executives filed out, leaving only the four Gym Leaders in the room.
The Masked Man and The Spies
"The four of you have likely received the Kanto League's summons to Indigo Plateau," Giovanni said, his tone shifting to one of strategic calculation. "I have a specific mission for you to handle while you are there."
"In the Johto region, there is a man known as the Masked Man. Using the name of Team Rocket, he has recruited a massive number of powerful trainers. My intelligence suggests he is hiding among the Johto Gym Leaders. Find him. Teach him a lesson for using our name, and if possible, seize control of his Johto assets for me."
So, Pryce's ruse has been exposed, Feng Che thought. Giovanni wants to swallow Pryce's 'Team Rocket' whole so he can claim Johto in one move.
"Additionally," Giovanni's voice dropped an octave, "I suspect there are moles from other underground organizations among our high-level executives. You four are my most trusted lieutenants. I want you to conduct a quiet investigation into the Four Generals and the Three Beast Warriors. Find the traitors."
"Lastly, a word of warning. The Pure Heaven Sect is planning something at the Tin Tower in Johto. My disgraced nephew, Tsuna, has joined them. If he crosses your path, kill him without hesitation. Once they accept that Miasma, they are no longer human. I may be a criminal, but I will not stand with monsters."
Giovanni's communicator chirped. He took the call and stood up, heading for the door. "Since you are League Gym Leaders, they will be watching you. Be careful in how you move. Good luck."
The Assignments
"Feng Che, where are you being sent?" Lt. Surge asked as they checked their mail.
Feng Che looked at his screen. His heart sank slightly. "The Unova Region."
"Unova?" Sabrina whispered, her brow furrowing with worry. "The organization there—Team Plasma—is the second most powerful after Team Rocket. Their leaders are said to be Champion-level. You must be extremely careful."
"I will," Feng Che nodded. "And the rest of you?"
"Hoenn for me," Sabrina replied. "Sinnoh," Janine and Lt. Surge said in unison.
"Since we all have to go to Indigo Plateau anyway, shall we travel together?" Surge suggested.
The Fallen Lion
At the Kanto League Headquarters, President Damalanchi entered his office, looking haggard and aged. He stopped dead when he saw Agatha sitting at his desk, casually going through files.
"Agatha? What are you doing in my office?" Damalanchi snarled.
"I'm surprised they let you out. You must have some very powerful friends at the Global Federation," Agatha mocked, not even looking up. The office had been completely redecorated in her gothic style, with Ghost-type Pokémon drifting through the shadows.
"Enough! Get out of my chair!" Damalanchi roared. "Until I receive an official transfer from the Federation, I am still the President of this League!"
"A stray dog always barks the loudest," Agatha said, pulling a document from a pile and sliding it across the desk. "This is the notice from the Federation. It's already been processed."
Damalanchi grabbed the paper. As he read the contents, his face turned from pale to a livid, furious red. "No... this is a fake! This is a lie!"
He tore the document into a thousand pieces, throwing the scraps into the air like falling snow. Agatha simply watched the paper drift down, a cold, triumphant smirk playing on her lips.
