"Forget it. We'll take it one step at a time. If things truly fall apart, my warship is ready to carry Jecksee and me through the World League's blockade," Jecal sighed, his gaze lingering on the horizon.
Meanwhile, Feng Che and Clemont arrived at the Windy Valley. The landscape was dominated by hundreds of towering white wind turbines. These massive structures used blades made of ultralight nanomaterials, each spanning dozens of meters. At the apex of each turbine sat a platform the size of a basketball court.
A powerful gale was currently sweeping through the valley, spinning the turbines at high velocities and generating a massive amount of static charge. These charges were continuously funneled into underground conduits. Feng Che could actually see stray arcs of electricity leaping between the metal structures.
"These are Great Sail Turbines, the largest power-generating equipment in the Pokémon world," Clemont noted, his expression grim. "My home city imported a batch years ago, but they were stolen—I never expected to find them here."
"Feng Che, be careful. This area is likely crawling with Electric-types," Clemont warned. "I've worked with these models before. They generate up to a million volts. To prevent the machinery from overloading due to stray arcs, they usually maintain colonies of Electric Pokémon to absorb the excess energy."
Clemont pulled a pair of specialized thermal-imaging goggles from his pack. "Just as I thought... the ground is packed with Electrode, and there are dozens of Ampharos grazing near the bases."
Feng Che raised a hand to stop Clemont from handing over the goggles. "No need. My Aura already picked them up. If we charge in blindly, we'll trigger a chain reaction of explosions. Clemont, stay back and alert the other squads so they don't wander into this 'minefield' and get vaporized."
Feng Che mounted his Corviknight and soared into the heart of the valley. As he passed a particularly large turbine, a bolt of lightning streaked toward him. He looked down to see an Electivire standing on the top platform, its twin tails crackling.
Standing beside the beast was a trainer clad in a yellow-and-black rubberized tactical suit.
"Greetings, Leader Feng Che. I am General Jecksee, the Thunder Commander," the man said arrogantly. "You caught Julian, but in our ranks, he was bottom-tier. Let's see how you handle real voltage."
"Go, Zeraora!"
Feng Che released the Mythical cat. Zeraora's paws erupted with blinding white electricity as it moved at the speed of light, aiming a thunderous punch at Electivire's jaw. However, the Electivire moved with surprising speed, catching the punch in its massive hand before tossing Zeraora across the valley.
Zeraora crashed into a neighboring turbine, the impact snapping the central pillar. The massive blades spun off, whistling through the air like giant boomerangs.
"Electivire, Thunderbolt!"
The giant fired a precise arc at the flying debris, vaporizing the falling blades into harmless dust before they could hit the ground.
"A shame," Jecksee scoffed. "A Zeraora wasted on a trainer like you. Under my tutelage, it would be a god."
"You talk too much," Feng Che replied coolly. "Zeraora, show him what you're really capable of."
Zeraora's fur bristled as it unleashed a surge of Plasma Fists. The pure white lightning was so intense that the surrounding turbines began to glow red from the induction heat.
"Now we're talking!" Jecksee leaped from the platform, landing on a lower catwalk. "Electivire, show him the 'Black Lightning'!"
Electivire roared, its golden sparks turning a dark, ominous black. It became a blur of dark energy, clashing with Zeraora in mid-air. The two became a sphere of strobing black and white light.
"While they play, let's start the second round," Jecksee said, throwing another ball. An Ampharos appeared.
Feng Che countered with Flygon. "Flygon, give the Ampharos a proper desert welcome."
Flygon beat its wings, kicking up a massive Sandstorm. Thick layers of grit and sand began to coat the turbine platforms.
"A Ground-type? Predictable," Jecksee laughed. "But you've made a fundamental error. Ground-types aren't naturally immune; they have an insulating skin structure. If I break that insulation, your dragon will fry just like anything else."
Ampharos lunged, its tail turning a gleaming silver as it struck with Iron Tail. Flygon parried with its wings, but Ampharos pivoted, firing a Power Gem at point-blank range.
"Flygon, Sand Tomb!"
Flygon commanded the grit to swirl into a dense shield, absorbing the gem fragments.
"Now, Stone Edge!"
Jagged stone pillars erupted from the sand, lunging at Ampharos. The electric sheep deftly smashed them aside with its tail.
"Ampharos, Electro Ball!"
Ampharos tossed a dozen crackling spheres into the sand. As the spheres impacted the Sandstorm, the sky turned into a localized electrical disaster. Flygon suddenly chirped in confusion—it found that it could no longer control the sand.
Flygon (Thinking): What's happening? The sand feels heavy... it's not listening!
"Your sand is now saturated with my static charges," Jecksee explained with a smirk. "My Ampharos is controlling your shield now."
