Chapter 653 - Kyurem Unbound

A shattered, magma-imbued longsword whistled through the air, plunging straight toward the sheet of ice.

The sword pierced clean through the mirror, instantly shattering it into countless glittering shards.

This pure coincidence deeply displeased the celestial monstrosity.

"Damn it! How could things possibly line up like this?"

Countless fragments of the broken ice mirror drifted on the wind, each one reflecting the distorted, hideous visage of the sky entity.

"A mere mortal, yet you dare repeatedly toy with a divinity. Your crimes are unforgivable."

The creature's voice sounded as though it were being forced out from between clenched, grinding teeth, trembling with intense rage.

The swirling black mist surrounding it seemed to resonate with its malice, morphing into various ferocious Pokémon shapes to intimidate Feng Che.

Countless bolts of black lightning plummeted from the sky as an overwhelming, oppressive aura surged from the Walrein.

The shadow of the sky entity detached itself from the Walrein entirely.

A jet-black Ho-Oh glared at Feng Che with crimson, bloodshot eyes.

Myriads of crackling black electric currents coiled tightly around its body.

The sky entity was clearly spoiling for a fight at a moment's notice.

"Damn it! My seal is still not fully undone, leaving me with only a fraction of my true power," the entity growled with bitter frustration. If it expended too much energy now, it would fail to withstand Zekrom's impending onslaught.

"Even with just this sliver of strength, however, I can still crush you into dust."

It was impossible to tell where the creature dredged up such unwarranted confidence.

Flapping its wings, the entity launched itself into the sky, coordinating its assault alongside the Walrein.

"Feng Che, shall I step in?" Mewtwo's voice echoed directly in his mind.

"No need. If you strike, the celestial entity might become wise to your presence, allowing it to weave an even greater scheme once it breaks its seal entirely."

"Besides, it's better to keep a few of my trump cards hidden for now."

"It's not just this sky entity; both the earth and ocean titans are already hunting me down."

"Above all else, I trust in Togekiss's miraculous luck."

Everyone had witnessed Togekiss's uncanny fortune firsthand—pulling off legendary-tier moves as effortlessly as drawing breath.

"Go, Togekiss! Use Metronome!"

Countless gargantuan blades of wind materialized across the sky. Their sheer scale was unprecedented—the largest air-slicing projectiles Feng Che had ever witnessed.

The air cutters converged into a roaring tempest and barreled forward.

The massive, paper-thin gale slammed violently into the Walrein.

Buffeted by this relentless barrage, the Walrein staggered backward, stumbling multiple times.

"It actually triggered a thirty percent flinch chance?" the celestial entity muttered, irritation bleeding into its tone.

Just as it prepared to unleash Hellfire, a wind blade a meter or two in length clipped its side.

To its sheer disbelief, the entity was forced to flap its wings and retreat a few paces.

The Hellfire it had just finished gathering was abruptly disrupted.

"How is this possible? What kind of trickery did you pull? I am a god—I cannot be made to flinch!" The entity stared in utter shock.

Ordinarily, status-inflicting moves were virtually useless against legendary Pokémon; given their immense innate defenses, inflicting an abnormal status on them was practically unheard of.

"You insolent, wretched ant!"

Massive gouts of black fire erupted across the entity's body as torrents of Hellfire rained down from the heavens.

The hellish flames bloomed across the landscape like a cluster of malevolent red lotus flowers.

"Togekiss, use Metronome again!"

Blazing meteors wreathed in roaring fire came crashing down into the black mist—a Draco Meteor barrage of terrifying proportions.

The celestial entity took the brunt of the falling dragon-fire head-on.

With a deafening explosion, the entire battlefield was instantly swallowed by blinding light.

The black mist and Hellfire alike were utterly incinerated and dissolved within the brilliant glare.

Seizing the moment, Zekrom pressed its advantage, driving a surge of ferocious lightning straight into the heart of the thinning mist. Caught completely off guard by Zekrom's sudden strike, the sky entity felt its footing give way.

"Damn it—a lapse in power! Zekrom actually found an opening."

"Feng Che, you got lucky this time! But the moment I shatter this seal will be the day you draw your final breath."

The celestial entity locked its terrifying eyes onto Feng Che, its raspy, venomous voice echoing across the entire firmament.

As the remaining black lightning faded, the dark fog finally retreated and dissolved.

In an instant, the tempest died down. Were it not for the lingering electric arcs still crackling across the sky from Zekrom, it would have seemed as though nothing had ever happened.

"Feng Che, are you alright?" Vio asked, noting his somewhat disheveled state.

"I'm fine. It didn't manage to hurt me."

"What a shame that two of the Four Priests—the Wind Priest and the Fire Priest—managed to slip away, though." Feng Che sighed, a hint of regret in his voice.

"Zekrom, let's move out. If Kyurem breaks free from its seal as well, we'll be in serious trouble."

With that, Feng Che mounted Zekrom and soared swiftly into the distance.

Not long after Zekrom departed, the black mist coalesced once more.

The celestial entity cast a wary, hostile gaze in the direction Zekrom had vanished.

"To think the Dragon God of the Unova region would actually lend Feng Che its aid. No matter—once I break my seal and emerge, my power will far surpass Zekrom's."

"Wind Priest, Fire Priest, return to the Johto region at once."

"Tell Shaka to use every means at his disposal to break my seal."

"As for that wretch Feng Che, I will deal with him personally once I am free."

With those parting words, the entity's form dissolved into swirling billows of black smoke, vanishing into the air.

Left behind in the sky was the withered husk of the Walrein, its vital essence and soul completely devoured by the sky entity.

"Wind, I never imagined both Water and Earth would fail."

"Let's head back to Johto as instructed and relay the Sky Deity's orders to High Priest Shaka."

The Fire Priest spoke with a grave, heavy expression.

Ice Cave

A ferocious, monstrous dragon shattered the glacial wall and burst forth into the world.

Outside, a blinding blizzard raged, feather-thick snowflakes swirling through the air.

Ghetsis watched the towering dragon emerge, a triumphant, ambitious smile spreading across his face.

"Kyurem, welcome to your freedom. Welcome to this world."

"Now, show everyone the true, terrifying might of a legendary Pokémon."

Kyurem was a bipedal, grey-blue draconic Pokémon, seemingly modeled after a theropod dinosaur.

It possessed a jagged, ice-blue snout, and its pale cyan eyes lacked any visible pupils, topped by a pair of yellow crown-like horns.

Its face and lower jaw were also constructed of ice-blue material resembling shattered icicles, extending upward to form two prominent ice horns.

Kyurem possessed a long grey neck and a grey torso. Its arms were remarkably slender, tipped with two tiny fingers each, and connected to a pair of flat-edged ice wings, each adorned with two sharp ice spikes.

These wings were believed to be used for flight in the sky as well as for storing sub-zero cryogenic energy.

Unlike Reshiram and Zekrom, Kyurem possessed relatively long, slender legs, and its tail lacked any kind of internal turbine or energy-generating structure, ending instead in three distinct ice spikes.

Its body was noticeably asymmetrical; its left ice horn, left wing, and left lower jaw were all slightly longer than their counterparts on the right side.

Kyurem could harness its wings and tail to gather and store ultra-cold air, manipulating it freely—though doing so risked freezing its own body solid.

It was also capable of unleashing blizzards and devastating hailstorms, instantly plunging its surroundings into a deep, absolute freeze—an ability intrinsically tied to its signature move, Glaciate.

Kyurem was widely whispered to be the strongest Dragon-type Pokémon in existence.
