Chapter 315 - Chapter 305: The Dropsite Massacre

The appearance of Chaos Horus astonished everyone.

The Emperor looked at the son who had betrayed humanity and fallen to Chaos and held complex emotions.

He is not the Emperor of this timeline and has no right to judge anything.

However, even after learning the entire story of Horus on this timeline, he was still terribly pained.

First, that child is a Sagittarius and possesses the "Golden Finger" (a lucky charm or special ability). These each represent the Emperor's trust on this timeline.

As an existence charged with opposing the four Chaos Gods, the Emperor had already discarded his humanity.

Yet he truly regarded Horus as his own son and devoted all his strength to raising him.

At first Horus did not betray the Emperor's expectations.

During the Great Crusade Horus, with a gentle and frank personality, strove to live in harmony with all his brothers. He was popular and extremely capable.

His charisma was so strong that even Sanguinius acknowledged him as commander on the battlefield.

In the Temple of Davin incident, vanity and arrogance led him step by step into Erebus's trap.

Then during the Siege of Terra he received complete blessings from the four gods and fought a death struggle with his real father.

The most beloved son on this timeline ultimately became a minion of Chaos; the sharpest sword that pierced him was this: "Your evil must be ended. Humanity cannot suffer forever for your mistakes."

The Emperor spoke to Horus. A certain power dwelt in that voice.

That power was neither psychic energy nor a form of energy that could be quantified or named. It was his pure will as Master of Mankind.

Chaos Horus showed an expression filled with pain; the instant the Emperor's voice broke off, those dark-red eyes flashed violently, then quickly regained their composure.

"Lying again, Father? Is there even a fragment of truth in your words?" Horus's voice was profound, filled with inexpressible malice.

"Horus, you are a traitor. You have corrupted everything within reach, yet at the same time you are both perpetrator and victim."

"Someday I will appear to punish you. And that day may be when you find relief or salvation."

Each of the Emperor's words contained unimaginable power to confront the Chaos Horus would cause.

This is war; if the Emperor cannot defeat Chaos Horus, this historical fragment may appear again and become a fulcrum supporting Chaos Horus.

In a world of war, the future and the past are always one. Those who win in the future can rewrite the past to their advantage.

"But before that day comes, you must return to those four men who treat you like a tool or a puppet."

"Father, you will ultimately fail. The power I possess far exceeds your imagination." Chaos Horus stared fearlessly at the Emperor.

At this time he was at his peak.

The whole of Terra had become hell; through countless sacrificed lives Horus could manipulate unimaginable Warp energy.

Unless the Emperor ascended to Dark King, there was no way at all to defeat him.

"Horus, I abandon you. Leave here immediately." The Emperor's voice was cold as ice, bearing irresistible power and will.

The instant the sound vanished, the evil light dwelling in Lord Horus's eyes vanished.

The evil light in the depths of his pupils gradually disappeared like the tide slowly receding from the beach; in its place, the figure of the repentant Wolf God Horus appeared.

On that handsome, perfect face traces of regret still remained; tears ran down his cheeks.

"Father..."

Horus moved his lips as if trying to say something, yet no time remained.

His body, beginning from the fingertips, melted little by little into extremely faint particles of light. And in the end it returned to nothing and vanished into the flow of time.

With Horus's disappearance, this fragment of history completely collapsed.

A fragment of shining historical essence floated before Datch's eyes.

This is the essence of the transformation of the Temple of Davin; like past historical great deeds, a mysterious, unpredictable power dwells there.

Datch understood the historical essence, took a Monster Ball from his game inventory, and pressed the round button on the front.

A ray of light was released from the Monster Ball; the Masked Dancer appeared in that light.

Her body had been personally "blessed" by Slaanesh; every curve designed to stir desire was like a work of art.

In the Masked Dancer's eyes, a faint grudge at having been made to wait in line last time dwelt.

It could not be compared to that monster transformed from Nurgle. That monster was so fat its joints could not be seen and could only make a "plop" sound.

The plump little one with a round body who always rubs against the owner's calf is another story.

Even Skarbrand and the Changeling cannot match him.

Skarbrand is just a muscle-bound idiot.

Needless to say, the Changeling is even worse.

This man does not even know who he is.

These two men had actually lined up before her. She felt terribly irritated.

Was her charm that bad?

This is without doubt a complete failure for a daemon who enjoys manipulating desire and controlling people's hearts.

Datch handed the historical essence to the Masked Dancer.

The enraged daemon seized the orb of light and swallowed it elegantly and slowly.

After absorbing the historical essence, the Masked Dancer's aura suddenly strengthened and became far more powerful than before.

She raised a hand, stared at her slender fingers, then stroked her even more perfect face and floated a satisfied smile on her lips.

"Not bad, not bad. With a few more pieces, I will also have the power to challenge the Prince of Pleasure."

A daemon who does not wish to become a Chaos God is never a good daemon.

With this, the historical fragment surrounding the Temple of Davin incident comes to an end.

Datch returned inside the TARDIS telephone box, came before the control panel, and began searching for a new historical fragment.

The time rotor began to roar; countless indicator lamps on the control panel began flashing at an extremely fast frequency.

The TARDIS telephone box is extremely efficient and soon discovered several more historical fragments.

These include the forgotten Imperium Secundus, the Schism of Mars, the Battle of Somnusburg, and others.

These historical fragments all possess special meaning; by destroying them, one can effectively weaken the power of Chaos Horus.

Chaos God Horus had received blessings from the four gods. In the final battle, the Emperor used various means and tried to kill Horus again and again, yet Horus always revived and was never completely destroyed.

The Emperor, driven to the brink of death, used Loken's illusion to deceive Horus and made him release the power of the Chaos Gods.

The only reason he was able to kill him was that he used the ritual dagger brought by the first Warmaster, Ollanius Persson.

Therefore, weakening Horus's power in the final battle is extremely important.

Otherwise, the only way to defeat Horus at his peak is to use the console.

Datch wasted no time and quickly crossed the fragments together with the Primarchs and the Emperor.

In the historical fragment of Imperium Secundus

he supported the Primarchs Lion, Sanguinius, and Guilliman and defeated Curze, Primarch of the Night Lords.

This traitor Primarch of the Night Lords had come to Macragge together with the Dark Angels.

He had engaged in a long pursuit drama with Lion, Primarch of the Dark Angels, aboard the Invincible Reason.

When the Invincible Reason broke through Macragge's void defenses and reached near-Earth orbit of the planet, he ordered a parachute drop.

They arrived on the surface of Macragge in drop pods and planned a series of vicious murders.

He drove Guilliman's foster mother to the brink of murder, launched an ambush against Guilliman and Lion, and nearly brought both Primarchs to death.

After the establishment of Imperium Secundus was declared, he plotted to assassinate the new Emperor Sanguinius.

To resolve this problem Datch operated the TARDIS telephone box, returned to the past, and searched out a new Curze.

New Curze rules his home planet Nostramo very well.

He always keeps the teachings of the ring finger in his heart and values fairness and justice.

New Curze was very excited when Datch appeared.

He had not seen the Nameless One for a long time and missed him greatly.

Now that they were reunited, they were, of course, extremely excited.

This sight once more stirred the Emperor's jealousy.

The sons all care more about the nameless people than about themselves.

In a situation like this, anyone would become tense.

This father is truly unbearable.

With the new Curze time-slipping into the historical fragment Datch began to intervene in the historical fragment of Imperium Secundus.

When Datch appeared together with the Emperor and the new Curze, the traitor Curze's pupils immediately widened with surprise.

For an instant he forgot to resist and was easily captured by Datch and his subordinates.

"How is such a thing possible?"

The traitor Curze stared at the Emperor; shock was contained in his voice.

"You should not be here!"

Then he looked at the new Curze.

"Who on earth are you? Why are you identical to me?"

None of the Primarchs involved answered the questions about the traitor Curze. On the contrary, they followed the nameless one's instructions, arrested Curze, and handed him over to the search party that arrived.

After finishing all of this, Datch guided the Emperor and the Primarchs into the TARDIS telephone box and continued quietly guarding the shadows so as not to see the figures of the three loyal Primarchs.

If they meet directly, it will take time to explain things, which will also affect the story development of the historical fragment and as a result lengthen the conquest time.

Avoiding contact is in fact the best choice.

The three loyal Primarchs were puzzled by the support of the mysterious team, yet they quickly suppressed the confusion and immediately interrogated Curze.

Learning that Horus had not yet murdered the Empress, Lion, Sanguinius, and Guilliman swiftly dismantled Imperium Secundus and set out on the journey to Terra.

Due to a violent storm they could not use the Warp to reach Earth directly.

They could only perform consecutive short-range jumps.

Overcoming numerous difficulties and dangers, they were guided by fate and finally arrived at the planet Davin.

By this time, the planet had completely changed; it was surrounded by countless corpses and skulls.

Here Datch appeared again together with the Emperor and many Primarchs and helped Sanguinius, Lion, and Guilliman overcome difficulties and defeat Davin.

They helped break through the Ruinstorm, stopped the conspiracy of the dark gods, and removed obstacles on the road to Terra.

After doing all of this, the fulcrum of this historical fragment also vanished, transformed into a fragment of historical essence, and was absorbed by the Warp creatures under Datch's command.

In the fragmentary history of divided Mars, the Fabricator-General of Mars, Kelbor-Hal, betrayed the Emperor by answering Horus's demand in order to obtain the secrets of dark technology and caused a large-scale Martian civil war.

Datch, together with the Emperor and several Primarchs, supported the loyalists and fought the rebel Mechanicum army led by Kelbor-Hal.

With the help of the Wolf God Horus, Kelbor-Hal broke the seal of the Vaults of Moravec and unleashed countless terrible Chaos viruses.

As a result, the loyalists suffered enormous casualties, immediately fell into a disadvantageous position against Kelbor-Hal's offensive, and large amounts of munitions and soldiers were destroyed by the rebels.

However, Datch used the power of the Infinity Gauntlet and easily neutralized the spreading Chaos virus.

With the help of the Necrons, they easily repelled the rebel Mechanicus army of Mars and supported the loyalists in defending the planet.

Datch used those powerful methods and easily conquered these historical fragments.

After analyzing these fragments, Datch discovered related historical fragments concerning the Isstvan massacre.

The massacre at Isstvan became a historical turning point in the Horus Heresy.

This massacre was divided into two parts. The first part was the purge of loyalists on Isstvan III by the sons of the Wolf God Horus, the Emperor's Children, and the World Eaters.

Warriors who refused to betray the Emperor were attacked with virus bombs by their fellow soldiers, then subjected to aerial bombardment, and finally annihilated by orbital bombardment.

The latter part is more complex.

Learning of the rebellion of Horus, Angron, and Fulgrim, the Emperor swiftly issued orders.

Forces of the Iron Hands, Salamanders, Raven Guard, Iron Warriors, Night Lords, Word Bearers, and Alpha — assemble.

They set out for Isstvan V to confront Horus, once his most beloved and most trusted son.

However, this order ultimately brought great losses to the Imperium.

The Night Lords, Iron Warriors, Word Bearers, and Alpha Legion look like loyalists yet have in fact already surrendered to Horus.

The Iron Hands, Salamanders, and Raven Guard were betrayed by four Legions at the landing site.

The four brother Legions that were supposed to cover their flanks aimed their guns at them at the same time and caused the infamous Dropsite Massacre.

Ferrus Manus, Primarch of the Iron Hands, died in combat.

Vulkan, Primarch of the Salamanders, was tortured by the Night Lords, fell into madness, and died on Macragge. Afterwards, he was sent back to Nocturne and resurrected.

Corax, Primarch of the Raven Guard, managed to escape.

The loyalists suffered great damage in the Battle of Isstvan V and allowed the rebels to establish a foothold.

Thus the Horus Heresy entered the stage of full-scale war.

When Datch and his companions entered that historical fragment, they had already reached the second stage.

The Salamanders, Iron Hands, and Raven Guard were under encirclement by the rebels; this is now their most dangerous moment.

Loyal Astartes and their auxiliary forces became targets of massacre; corpses piled up at the landing site, blood flowed like a river, and a terrible scene of slaughter spread.
