The swirling frost energy reflected in his eyes as he began planning his next move.
"I guess, once again… I'm gambling," he muttered as he stood up.
Suddenly, Dainsleif appeared beside him.
"You're acting like an idiot," the Divine Lion said, pointing a claw at him. "You can simply use it yourself."
"Huh? How can I—" Alan paused.
Then his eyes widened.
"Wait… the Rune of Harmony. I almost forgot about it."
He nodded and rubbed Dainsleif's head. "Thank you."
"Hmph. I am from an ancient era. It's only natural that I know such trivial things," Dainsleif said proudly, lifting his head high.
Alan chuckled.
After all, Dainsleif's pet rating might be legendary but he is an beast from Ancient time.
If there was anyone qualified to speak about forgotten runes and mystical objects like the Frost Queen's Heart, it was him.
"But can I really use it without any problems?" Alan asked.
"Of course there will be a sacrifice," Dainsleif replied calmly.
"What will it be?" Alan frowned as he asked.
"You will no longer be able to use the Rune of Harmony to obtain the active powers of the beings under you. Only their passive effects will apply from now on."
Alan went silent for a moment.
"If it's only that much, then it's fine," he said at last.
Despite possessing two runes, he could only use one Rune at a time to use the ability gaining effect anyway. The other rune served as a reserve for absorption once the first was filled.
'I suppose this is a balancing restriction placed on the holder of the Rune of Harmony,' Alan thought.
According to the rune's description, there should only be one rune per account. The fact that he possessed two was already an anomaly. It wasn't surprising that there would be something to partially limit its effectiveness.
"But compared to what you will gain from the Frost Queen's Heart, that sacrifice is insignificant," Dainsleif said.
Alan nodded.

Alan gritted his teeth and took deep breaths, forcing himself to calm down.

"Only this much after going through five minutes of this hellish pain?!" Alan snapped, glaring at the notification.
"Do you think everyone has talent like yours? Even a peak magician's mana pool would barely compare to what you have now," Dainsleif replied.
Alan reluctantly nodded.
Two more hours passed in agony.
His Mana Core continued expanding—
3rd Expansion.
4th Expansion.
5th Expansion.
Each time, his mana permanently increased by 3,000 points.
