Alan didn't move.
He stood like a king upon his frozen domain, eyes half-closed, senses stretched to their absolute limit.
The world had changed.
Sound… temperature… mana flow… even the movement of air—
Everything was under his control.
Yet—
He still couldn't see him.
"…Troublesome."
A faint crease appeared on Alan's forehead.
Even within the domain, all he could perceive were faint disturbances—snowflakes clinging unnaturally to something invisible.
A silhouette formed only through absence.
That was all.
'So this is Lantier…'
A death knight.
Weakened… incomplete…
And yet—
Still this dangerous.
Step.
The snow shifted.
Alan's eyes snapped open.
Slash—
A blade cut through the air.
If not for his Hypersenstivity he might not even have perceived it.
Clang!!
Alan barely raised his sword in time. Sparks flew as the invisible strike collided with his guard.
The impact alone pushed him back several meters, his boots carving deep lines into the frozen ground.
[ Frostbite stacks accumulating… ]
[ 2… 4… 6… ]
The snow wrapped tighter around the unseen figure.
For a split second—
Alan saw it.
A distorted outline.
A knight's form, thin and blurred, wrapped in deathly silence.
Then—
Gone.
"…Fast."
Alan exhaled slowly.
He could end this quickly.
One high-tier spell… one wide-range attack…
The domain alone could crush this weakened death knight over time.
But—
"No."
His grip tightened around his sword.
"This isn't how I fight."
He stepped forward.
The frozen throne behind him shimmered… then faded.
[ Stance of King has been deactivated. ]
The domain weakened slightly—
But Alan's presence sharpened.
Lower.
Denser.
More dangerous.
"Come."
He lowered his stance.
Step.
The response was instant.
The air split—
Slash! Slash! Slash!
Three consecutive strikes aimed at his blind spots.
Alan moved.
Clang!
Clang!!
Clang!!!
Each strike was blocked by instinct alone.
[ You have perfectly blocked invisble attacks aimed at you.]
[ Passive skill 'Combat Instinct' has been learned. ]
A faint grin appeared on Alan's face.
"Good…"
The snow began to swirl violently.
Every movement Lantier made now left behind a faint trace.
A ripple.
A distortion.
Alan looked at such distortations to find the legendary assassin.
Step—
He lunged forward.
His sword cut through empty air—
But at the last moment—
Clang!!
Contact.
For the first time—
He hit something.
A thin layer of frost exploded outward as the invisible body was forced back.
[ Frostbite stacks: 9 ]
Alan's eyes flashed.
"Got you."
The domain reacted instantly.
[ Frostbite stacks: 10 ]
Crack—
Ice surged violently.
For a fraction of a second—
The invisible knight was finally revealed.
It was a Death Knight—a skeletal figure, with strands of decayed hair still clinging to its skull.
It was a grotesque sight.
"…What have you become?"
Alan muttered, a rare hint of pity flashing in his eyes.
Even for him—
This was too cruel a fate for a legend.
But the moment lasted only an instant.
Shhh—
The Death Knight vanished again.
Alan's gaze sharpened.
"…I wonder if I can do this."
A thought crossed his mind.
Without hesitation, he pulled out Kruger's Cloak—
And disappeared.
Unlike Lantier, who was weakened and bound to imperfect stealth—
Alan's concealment was absolute.
His stealth, derived from the Silver Dragon, the king of stealth itself, was on an entirely different level.
Even within the frozen domain—
The drifting snowflakes passed through his body as if he didn't exist.
No distortion.
No trace.
Nothing.
Alan slowly scanned the battlefield.
Then—
He found him.
Lantier stood silently in one spot, his hollow gaze sweeping the surroundings, searching.
For the first time—
The hunter had become the prey.
Alan's grip tightened around his sword.
He moved.
Silently.
Swiftly.
Like death itself.
Then—
He struck.
"100,000 Army Blackade Sword."
A massive slash tore through the air.
Boom—
The invisible blade connected.
For the first time, Lantier couldn't react.
[ Lantier has been stunned for 6 seconds. ]
His body flickered into visibility, frozen mid-motion.
Alan didn't stop.
His eyes were cold.
"200,000 Army Massacre Sword."
The second strike descended.
A far more devastating blow—
Carrying absolute destruction.
BOOOOOOM!!
The frozen ground shattered as the attack landed directly on Lantier.
The Death Knight's body cracked—
Then it exploded into fragments.
[ You have defeated Death Knight Lantier. ]
[ You have gained experience. ]
[ You have obtained Death Knight Lantier's Dagger. ]
[ You have obtained Death Knight Lantier's Boots. ]
[ You have obtained Lantier's Soul Essence. ]
[As a reward for cleansing the island, you have gained one level!]
"I got it."
Alan smiled as he looked at the small bead of swirling black energy in his hand.
"The Soul Essence of a Legendary Assassin… now this is good," he muttered as he carefully stored it.
He also collected the remains of Lantier's body.
The dagger and boots were items suited for assassins, but they weren't better than his current equipment, so he casually placed them into his inventory.
[ You have cleared the 61st Island. ]
[ The gateway to the 62nd Island is now open. ]
Alan nodded.
'Now… the other islands also have legends. Should I create a guardian from a single corpse… or combine two or more to create something stronger?'
He was deep in thought when Sage Sticks approached him.
"If that had been Lantier at his peak, he wouldn't have fallen so easily to the stealth of Kruger's Cloak, which was created based on his own stealth." Sticks said.
Alan looked at him.
"He made it based on him?" he asked.
"Yes. The two once fought, and Kruger was defeated quite easily. After that, he vowed to create something that could counter Lantier."
Sticks continued,
"During his journey, he encountered the corpse of a dragon. From it, he took certain parts, along with scales from a Silver Dragon found nearby. Using those materials—and with the help of a master blacksmith of his time—he created five cloaks, along with his own tailoring tools."
Alan nodded slowly.
"I see…"
"You should get ready," Sticks added. "The rest of the islands also contain past legends. Although they possess less than 30% of their original power… a legend is still a legend."
Alan nodded, but inwardly he thought, 'I doubt that…'
'Lantier was troublesome because he was an assassin. Fighting someone invisible is difficult when most of my skills rely on sight… but against visible enemies, it would be much easier for me.'
He didn't say it out loud.
Instead, he simply turned and walked toward the next island.
