The dungeon cell felt like it was shrinking as Aleric stepped fully into the light of the cell, his face a mask of weary distraught.
"Aleric! why are you with them!" Leo barked again, his voice cracking with a desperate hope that was almost pathetic.
"Fihgt them, they are monster. Our enemies! Burn them to ashes" Aleric finally looked at him, his blue eyes cold and devoid of the brotherly warmth Leo clearly expected.
"The only thing turning to ash today, Leo, is your loyalty to a man who sent you here to die." Leo's face fell, his mouth hanging open.
"What... what are you saying? Your father….."
"My father what?" Aleric snapped, taking a step closer until he was standing just behind Isabella.
"Your father," Leo stammered, the words trembling past his bloody teeth as he stared at the absolute lack of remorse on the Alpha prince's face.
