Chapter 231 - Chapter 231: Rotom and the Farm

Meanwhile, in Kalos.

After passing through a town and calling Joy, Haley set out with Ron.

It was still early. Because she would be working late at the Saloon in the evening, Haley considerately asked Joy to tell Emily a bit later that she had called.

Although she had passed by the Lumiose City Pokémon Center before, the timing conflicted slightly with Emily's schedule, so Haley considerately waited until today, when Ron was delivering Rotom, to make the call.

This was something Clemont had specifically reminded her about. Heard that this Rotom often played pranks everywhere at the Lumiose Gym. Even inside its Poké Ball, it would find ways to escape and cause mischief everywhere.

Occasionally, when Clembot was charging, it would enter Clembot's system through the circuits and control Clembot to use the gym's defense devices to drive everyone out of the gym.

Worried about accidentally letting this Rotom escape on the road, when passing through this town, Ron specifically went to the Pokémon Center.

After all, everywhere in Kalos was quite developed, especially Lumiose, a city famous for its electrical systems. Finding a town that didn't use electricity nearby was harder than reaching the heavens.

If it escaped, it would truly be difficult to catch.

After careful consideration, Ron chose to have Rotom stay at the farm.

He wasn't worried about Rotom causing trouble on the farm. After all, the environment there was different from Kalos—there weren't so many electrical appliances and circuits for Rotom to escape through and play pranks. Especially since it seemed Rotom needed to enter electrical circuits to get into appliances, and most devices in Pelican Town were self-powered. Even if there were TVs and refrigerators, there were no connected pathways.

Thinking this, after the teleportation was complete, Ron called to the Team Rocket group waiting at the door, and they continued toward Laverre City.

Meanwhile, at the farm.

After finishing her work, Joy took the time to bring that Rotom to the farm.

Because she was somewhat familiar with this type of Pokémon, Joy didn't release it. Only after arriving at the farm, entering the cabin, and looking around did she release that Rotom.

"Indeedee?"

Indeedee was currently huddled with the Rattata in front of the fireplace warming themselves. Seeing Joy release a Rotom, Indeedee called out to her.

Rotom had no distribution in Pelican Town at all, so everyone was seeing it for the first time.

"Zzt."

That Rotom floating in mid-air shuttled through the house at extremely high speed. Looking up at the unidentified flying object calling out while flying so fast it left afterimages, all the Pokémon were stunned in place.

"This was sent by Ron from Kalos. You'll have to take care of it these next few days. Its name is Rotom." Joy said, petting Indeedee's head and glancing at the cleanly maintained house.

"Indee." Indeedee responded, raising its head and trying to follow that streak of light to track Rotom's figure.

Because it flew so fast, besides streaks of light in the house, all that remained was that Pokémon's "zzt zzt zzt" calls.

Perhaps its original call wasn't this, but because it flew too fast, Indeedee could only make out this sound.

After a while, Indeedee fell to the ground dizzy.

Joy laughed upon seeing this, then belatedly realized it was somewhat inappropriate to laugh now. She picked up Indeedee from the ground, petted its head, placed the Rotom food Ron had commissioned her to order on the table, then poured some out onto a plate.

"For food, it eats this." Joy introduced to Indeedee in her arms, "If you really can't manage it, use this. When it's eating, put it back in its Poké Ball."

Before the words finished, that streak of light stopped before the plate, devouring the food of indistinguishable raw materials from the plate with great gusto.

Only then did Indeedee clearly see what this Pokémon looked like.

"Indeedee."

Indeedee responded somewhat weakly.

Joy smiled and petted Indeedee's head, placed it on the ground, then put the fed Rotom back in its Poké Ball and handed it to Indeedee.

"Then I'll leave it to you. If you need any help, come find me at the Community Center anytime."

"Indee." Indeedee nodded, solemnly storing this Poké Ball away, and secretly decided that except for feeding time, it absolutely would not release it even once!

Thinking this, Indeedee hugged this Poké Ball and curled back up in front of the fireplace.

A group of Pokémon huddled together, watching TV with great interest.

"Ratta?"

Should we release it to watch together?

One Rattata watched for a while, then asked, staring at the Poké Ball in Indeedee's hands.

"Indeedee indee indeedee—" Indeedee shook its head rapidly.

It wasn't that it was heartless. Mainly, it could hear that Rotom's thoughts—and that Rotom's head was full of bad ideas!

"Rattata."

Wouldn't it be very bored like this?

"Indee indeedee indeedee—"

Indeedee shook its head vigorously. Under the gaze of the Rattata, it placed Rotom's Poké Ball on the very top of the cabinet.

"Ratta—"

The Rattata could only sit back down awkwardly.

Snow was falling outside the window. Curled up in front of the stove now, warming themselves by the cozy fire, before long, the Pokémon in front of the fireplace fell asleep in a pile.

Just then, the Poké Ball on top of the cabinet began to shake.

Then—click—

Rotom burst out from the Poké Ball.

"Zzt—"

Just as it called out, realizing that group of Pokémon had fallen asleep, Rotom hurriedly lowered its voice and began looking around.

Since they're all asleep! Then it's time for Rotom's pranks—hehehe—

Thinking this, Rotom recalled how it used to cause destruction at the Lumiose Gym, while searching everywhere for electrical circuits in the house.

The first step of a prank was to control this house's circuits, then like those midnight horror movies in Kalos, scare these Pokémon into running everywhere through the whole house!

Especially them—this group of Rattata that looked very timid!

Thinking this, Rotom let out another "hehehe" strange laugh, searching for the location of electrical wires in the house.

Normally, this would be quite easy to find in any house. Just one socket, and it could smoothly enter the circuits, then follow the circuit ports to hide in surrounding electrical appliances.

But unexpectedly, after circling the house three times, Rotom still couldn't find any socket interfaces.

"Zzt?"

That shouldn't be—

Rotom paused, its gaze turning to the refrigerator nearby.

"Zzt?"

Aren't there electrical appliances right here?
