----------------------
Right now, the first problem to solve was the bouquet.
Unlike the Mermaid Pendant, a bouquet only cost 200g from the grocery store and didn't involve any particular ceremony. Therefore, if someone were sneaky enough, he could even give one to everyone he was on good terms with. As long as the recipient didn't object, they would become partners.
The room for maneuvering here was enormous.
"What are you thinking, meow? You look really creepy——" Meowth shuddered, not understanding why Indeedee had dragged it all over town learning about Pelican Town's marriage and dating customs.
"Indeedee~"
Confidential!
"Yikes." Meowth hugged its arms, then confirmed: "You don't have a Pokémon you like, do you? Who?"
"Indee." Indeedee shook its head furiously. It had absolutely no intention of chatting with Meowth right now; it was still thinking about its future proposal endeavors.
However, Pelican Town's rules regarding the proposal stage were quite numerous.
First, you had to own a big house, a large bed, and ideally a nursery.
This was understandable. Pokémon squeezing together was one thing, but two adults squeezing onto a single bed was a bit troublesome.
The only problem was that Ron had zero intention of expanding the cabin. Although he had been making money all along, he had always been indifferent to these things. Unless it truly became too cramped to live in, Ron probably wouldn't easily expand the house.
But it couldn't be said outright, otherwise, if Ron eavesdropped on its inner thoughts, wouldn't he know everything?
Next was the pendant. Based on Indeedee's current pocket money, the pendant was absolutely not cheap, and it couldn't just buy one.
"What are you thinking——" Meowth looked at Indeedee's increasingly strange expression and couldn't help but ask.
"Indeedee?"
"Because you still haven't let Meowth leave, meow." Meowth scratched its head. "Don't need me anymore?"
"In, indeedee."
Indeedee waved its paw dismissively and continued planning.
Meanwhile, after class, after dropping off the kids as usual, Penny spotted from afar the Traveling Cart parked near Cindersap Forest.
The woman inside the cart waved at Penny as soon as she saw her. "Hey, want to take a look at the goods? I promise I have what you need."
Because this cart's items were always astonishingly expensive, even more so than the grocery store's, Penny had never bought anything there. Looking at the woman beckoning her, she couldn't help but hesitate.
Slowly walking up to the traveling cart, the woman inside enthusiastically brought out her wares. "Take a look, all smuggled from all over the world, all rare goodies."
"Um——do you have——" Penny fidgeted.
The woman instantly read something from Penny's face. She leaned in close, studied Penny's face for a moment, then chuckled softly. "Let me guess, you have a city boy you want to pursue?"
"Ah——" Penny jumped. The woman comfortingly patted Penny's shoulder, then whispered, "That's perfectly normal in the city. If you like someone, go for it, no problem at all——Of course I have it, but only the recipe, you see. This kind of thing has to be made by hand to be precious enough to move your beloved's heart."
Penny hemmed and hawed, but the woman pulled out a Wedding Ring recipe in one swift motion.
"Everything else I have is very expensive," the woman continued. "But this one, I never mark up. Just 500g, how about it?"
"I, I—" Penny paused, then handed the money to the woman.
"I knew it." The woman handed the recipe to Penny, then added, "But the materials inside aren't easy to find. If you can gather them all, no matter how stone-hearted the person, they'd be moved by this sentiment."
"Hmm?" Penny opened it and took a look.
Five Iridium Bars, and one Prismatic Shard?
Penny froze for a moment, suddenly remembering the geodes she had cracked open for the Rattata during the Desert Festival.
"Alright, good luck." The woman said, ducking back into her cart and organizing things inside.
At this very moment, Indeedee.
"You're here to buy a bouquet." Pierre looked at the money Indeedee had placed on the counter, pondering for a moment. "Do you Pokémon need this kind of thing for a sense of ceremony too?"
"Indeedee."
Indeedee nodded solemnly.
"Oh." Pierre hesitated, then asked, "You're not buying this for Ron, are you?"
He could vaguely tell that Abigail might have slightly more than friendly feelings for Ron. Of course, even if she didn't, deep down, if Pierre had to choose, he would definitely support Abigail being with someone from Pelican Town. Rather than her meeting a nice Kalos boy during her adventures in Kalos and then following that boy to stay in Kalos forever.
Just imagining such a scenario would make Pierre jolt awake in the middle of the night, gasping for breath.
"Indeedee."
Indeedee stared at Pierre for a moment, then waved its paw.
"That's good, that's good." Pierre breathed a sigh of relief, watching Indeedee leave the grocery store.
"Indeedee~"
Who should I give the first one to?
Indeedee calculated.
It would probably take a few more days to save up enough for the next one. After all, it first had to repay the 200g borrowed from Sailor, then save up to buy a new one.
It counted on its fingers.
"Indee, indeedee——"
Arriving at the farm, Indeedee still hadn't decided who to give this bouquet to first.
Of course, giving a bouquet wouldn't necessarily be accepted one hundred percent. But this happened to be right in Indeedee's area of expertise. It clearly knew whose affection had already reached the point where they would immediately accept a bouquet, and whose was still far from it.
This was crucial.
And it, as it happened, was an Indeedee!
Indeedee proudly put its hands on its hips.
As soon as it walked in, Indeedee ran into Ron, who was busy working on the farm.
"Where did you go?" Ron asked casually. Turning his head, he saw Indeedee facing him with something seemingly hidden behind its back.
"Indeedee, indeedee."
"——" Ron hesitated, wondering whether to activate his mind-reading to see what this little guy was up to.
"Indeedee?! Indeedee!" (No! You can't! Eavesdropping on people's thoughts is rude!)
"It says you can't! Eavesdropping on others' thoughts is impolite!" Meowth translated as it passed by.
"I haven't even said anything yet." Ron said silently.
"Indee, indeedee." (It's an instinct, I can't help it either,) Indeedee looked at Ron guiltily. To prevent the thing behind its back from being discovered by Ron, it was currently shuffling along very carefully.
"It says it's an instinct and it can't help it," Meowth translated.
Ron raised an eyebrow, but ultimately let Indeedee off the hook.
Indeedee breathed a sigh of relief and sprinted into the cabin, hiding the bouquet away.
