Silence enveloped the scene as the sounds of chirping birds lingered in the air.
Ren stared at his expression—that desperate expression—and found himself smiling. Ren took Zuran's chin in his hands and said, "That's a good thing then. It means your conscience doesn't want you to kill me. Listen to it, and everything will be fine, okay?"
Zuran wanted to speak, but his words failed him. It was complicated. Everything was so complicated that he didn't even know how to explain it.
So he simply sighed as he turned away. "I'm bored. Let's go."
"Huh? Go? But we haven't had the strawberries together..." Ren followed behind him. Zuran just moved like a pissed-off kid without saying anything, his long legs leading him far from Ren.
Ren struggled to catch up. "What's wrong now? You should listen to your conscience and let go of me. Everyone will be happy then." He smiled as he spoke. He was glad he was melting through Zuran's heart.
