Not the way you confront someone you're afraid of — the specific quality of someone who has decided what needs to be said and is saying it without the fear of what the saying produces because the saying is right and the right thing needs to happen regardless of the fear.
He faces the god of love, fully manifested, golden and enormous and present in the physical world in the way that gods are present when they've stopped choosing to be small, and Kai stands in front of him at a distance that is not respectful in the deferential sense.
It's the distance of an equal.
"Does she have a choice?" he asks.
